1 Piece Suit For Track

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Cream_Revenge, Oct 19, 2019.

  1. Agree 100% with Advikaz - Held Slade suite would be my recommendation for a non airbag suit - crashed in this and apart from a few scuffs no problem, really well made cowhide/Kangaroo suit.
PS - Boots wise...Daytona EVO Sports GTX, waterproof, comfy and bulletproof.

  2. Yeah I was really impressed with @Advikaz Held suit as well. I think if I was not buying airbag then thats what I would get. Pretty stiff and heavy so maybe need a bit of wearing in but the quality looks top notch.

Second on the Daytona boots - I have some GP race ones I was lucky to get second hand like brand new and although very very expensive they are another level to anything from Dianese/Alpinestars/otherBrand... A good example of how strong they are is when I used the ceramic toe to stop from 150mph at Donny when my brakes failed!

  3. Tbh if you are buying a new one piece now for £750 plus then it would be silly not to stretch to a £1000 air bag jobbie, that’s if your lucky enough to get one for that money.

  4. That's the point though, unless its a "quality suit" your paying for the technology first, then the suit!! Only my opinion though.

  5. The one I linked to earlier in this thread is a 2k suit and if that can be had for half that price I would deem that a bargain, but they never come up when I am looking, Dainese are the leaders in air bag tech so my money would go with them.

  6. Imho I’d go either for one you can recharge yourself, or the best that can be fitted to any suit independently.

  7. I've just sold a brand new Held Slade suit for £500! Still got my old Slade suit which is a great suit.

  8. I crashed in mine...They 'Held' together very well......See what I did there? o_O

  9. Good info on the A*, looks like most of there suits need this, so a £750 air bag suit need this vest.

  10. Won’t you have to buy a size or two bigger?

  11. My Astars airbag suit is the same size as my non airbag Dainese one.
Apart from the electrical connections for the function LEDs in the suits, the main supposed difference
is the location of extra stretch panels for when the bag triggers.

Astars are already franchised to several other leathers companies who can make suits which
will take their airbag. BKS and PSI are probably the best known currently.

  12. I think it would be a in shop buy to get the fit right, just makes me laugh that most of these air bag suits don't actually come with the airbag, very misleading.

  14. This article is pretty useful, if I had read it prior to buying my Alpinestars 1 piece I would have gone for made to measure - at the time I thought they would cost too much as had BKS figures in mind. However it looks like there are quite a few manufacturers out there who make very good made to measure suits for off the peg money.

  15. I bought some new leathers this year. I spent a bit of time doing research and came to the conclusion that the Ixon airbag vest and 4SR leathers were best for what I wanted.
A couple of mates broke their collar bones this year and ones been off work a long time. For that reason I went for a vest so it can be used on the road and track and the Ixon is perfect for that. You can get custom fitted airbag ready suits from 4SR or do what I did and went for an off the peg and then had them put in stretch panels for the vest. The quality is awesome.
Ixon also say you can use them under any suit or jacket and I’ve used the vest under my Held leathers. If you go for a non airbag suit, then you’ll struggle to get a better spec/quality suit than the Held for your money.

I see DRC being recommended a lot in threads like these but I’d stay away unless you have plenty of time on your hands and not in a rush. I was going to go down the DRC route, so ordered some gloves to see what they were like. I waited 4 months for my gloves to come and when they arrived they weren’t as I asked design wise. Said they’d send me some others and I’m still waiting. Gave up with them in the end. The gloves themselves are ok but the construction design is almost identical to my Arc-On gloves only the DRC gloves don’t feel as good quality.

  16. No.

  17. I should’ve probably added that if I was going for a track only suit then I’d have went for a full blown alpinestars airbag suit most likely.

  18. Plus 1 for the Ixon and also concur on comments re DRC service. I had to wait a long time with little/poor comms. Suit feels good quality though and ref design I was not bothered so pretty much left it to them but they did get the bits that were important to me right.

  19. They’re dead cool. They’ve got blinking LED things on the forearm. I strut about the pit garage pretending I know what I’m doing
