Bar Risers,

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Nelson, Apr 13, 2013.

  1. I had a shoulder op a few years ago which has been completely fecked up by the NHS, long dull story that I won't bore you with.
But, I do now find I get a lot of pain after a ride on my bike...:frown:

I;m considering adding a set of risers to see if this helps.
    Any recommendations?

Spotted these on ebay, I have purchased from these chaps before and had quality items and no delivery problems.

Or anyone have a set to sell?

Any issues with fitting? Those that have them fitted, did you need longer cables/hoses?

    Thanks

  2. Kope had a set, I spent the money on something else...be worth a pm

  3. Mr Nelson Sir, before ye drop cash on risers. Swap over your existing clamps. Left to right upside downie, and vice versa, cappiche? Cheap tricks are us!!

  4. Ar...think I may try that. Thanks :)

  5. Ah ha...Did recall something similar.... I did stop and gaze at them but couldn't grasp how it would work...Back to the lab...:upyeah:

  6. Had a look, cant see how that improves an 848, may be ok on a 996

  7. Nelson I can't see how risers would work on the 748, I have just an eighth of an inch clearance between my brake master cylinder and the fairing, or am I missing something.

  8. When I fitted risers to a 996 I had to relocate the throttle (upside down) and the res's because they foul the plastics. Hammer and gaffa tape needed lol

  9. The result... Cow Horns!

It's the angle of the tube, not the height of the clamp that gets you the lift.
I have an aftermarket MC and custom made (in my shed) res bracket.
Only issue I can poss foresee is hands getting trapped under mirrors on full lock.

Going to give it a go.... Top tip....:upyeah:

I hope it helps, don't want to trade in for a Goldwing..

  10. As the clamps are no longer pined in to place, it's pretty easy to adjust back and forth.

  11. Impressed?

    Ran off to ya shed...?

  12. I tried the swapping over of the bars but as mentioned the angle was awful, was uncomfortable and looked wrong. I ended up fitting a Speedymoto top yoke which allows the bars to swing back and forth about an inch or so and also lifts them around an inch. I found them much more comfortable. [IMG]

  13. Lol no I wouldn't be able to reach the inside bar on that at full hang off!

  14. Like that top yoke...ffs when does it all end?!

  15. The top yoke is quite expensive over here. I got mine when on holiday in USA. Find one used on the US forum or from a US dealer and get it sent to my hotel in August and I will bring it back for you !! Black is nice as well.

  16. Just had a look on ther site...nice steering nut too

  17. Neil at Cornerspeed used to have their stuff. Motowheels ( USA ) usually have good prices.

  18. After a bit more experimentation, I ended up here;

Best balance of clearance, height and not trapping hands.
Have to say I'm a believer, has made a huge difference to the ergonomics of the bike, more comfortable and more maneuverable IMO.
