There are a number of off road tracks around here running through forestry and over the moors & mountains There’s also many which masquerade as main roads and I’ve had thoughts of buying a trails bike of some sort for a bit of fun over the winter. Something which I don’t mind getting mucky or dropping. If you had up to £1000 to spend what would you buy for this purpose. ps. I don’t mind if it needs a bit of TLC as I’ll probably end up fettling it anyway.
LOL. What tyres would you recommend on it? Supercorsas? Actually, that’s not necessary as I’ve an old spare one somewhere in my shed
I saw that a while back. Hilarious, it makes me laugh even now without watching it again. But I still ask myself ‘why?’.
I loved racing enduro but me knees didn't il pick one up over the next year or so but no racing I promise
We got a kl 250 super sherpa Paul really good little bike but quite rare lots stuff on YouTube and adventure bike forum etc. Gave £1800 for it but only 6,000 something kilometres on it and is very tidy it’s a Japan import they do crop up for sale occasionally very light low seat height they all need a reject as buggers to start cold but yes they have a fair old following especially in America
A 250 enduro bike. You don’t need any more than 250. After that, take anything good that comes up. Maybe the Honda crf250 or the Yamaha Wr250. KTM or Husqvarna of course but possibly the Jap bike’s may be cheaper and more reliable of course. if none of those appeal and you have to have more cc’s get a Gold Wing, that should do it.
These are a very common farm bike here in NZ. Must be something to do with price and accessories, such as rh sidestands and rear carrier racks. See the odd one on the road too, no doubt they probs go forever like the Suzuki TC125 bikes that fill all the farmers dump sites when they eventually sucumb to 10yrs of cowshit.
My brother is selling his recent Honda 250crf, he cannot ride while he's recovering from his recent op, so it has to go. Full service history, lovingly looked after... when I get back to the uk I'll pm details. It's more than £1000!, but I'm not sure how much.
Anything light. Low centre of gravity. Simple to kickstart. Easy to work on. Japanese two stroke was my choice.
If you are tootling - the quad mentioned is a good choice - stay with Yamaha or Honda if you can... suggest atleast a 350 Engine in a Quad if you want 2 wheels - then old XR 250 or XR 400 - DR350 DR400 all 4 stroke.. easier to ride off road than 2 stroke for novice If you want to ride fast then look at the MX bikes mentioned earlier crf wr ktm... but will need lots more maintenance than the older slower 4 strokes.
Probably depends a lot on whether you want to chug through the mire or blast through it spraying mud everywhere...
