Who’s going to motorcycle live then this year? Every year I say I won’t go again but maybe this time I actually won’t as I just looked at the exhibitor line up and it’s all a bit samey. I preferred it when there were loads of separate retail outlets there selling leathers and what not but now it’s just the big uns there with huge stands. I know that it’s all about the motorcycle community but I’m sick of being surrounded by people with bad hygiene and absolutely no spacial awareness (especially the Harley Davidson stand) Maybe I’m just finding it a Bit tiresome paying to park my car about 7 miles away and be charged handsomely for it.
A bit like you I sat every year I won’t go. But it’s a bit of a pilgrimage now. I enjoy looking at the big manufacturer stands and thinking if anyone’s offering a bike I’d consider. The retail outlets are definitely worse then 5 years ago, as you say, it’s all big business. But as for parking? I ride every year, it’s free, beats the congestion and your in a lovely big, dry and warm hall right next to the event. For FREE! It’s the only way to visit in my opinion. I’ve already bought my ticket and I’m genuinely looking forward to it as my Autumn adventure (other then commuting it’s about as good as it gets for me this time of year).
I’ll be there next Monday........I’ll be going with the Ducati Manchester crowd on a coach, and staying on for the Ducati UK vip evening
Fucker was coming first thing this morning..........he’s just rocked up 10 mins ago. His timekeeping is atrocious. He’d miss the bus.
It's a chance for me to catch with several people I know and don't get the opportunity to meet during the year. We are staying in Solihull on the last Friday night to get an early start on the final Saturday. Only thing on the list this year is a Sena for Carole. Andy
just been there last Saturday for classic car show. what a waste of time and money! never again. hopefully bike show is better for you guys
Anyone been yet? Just wondering what the general view is of this year's show, was thinking about popping down today with both my girls (6 & 15) so at least they're just £1 each, but with parking at £12 and ticket entry for me at £25 I just wanted to check. I see they have the freestyle MX display, anything else running which they might enjoy to offset the times when I'm constantly jumping from one bike to the next?
Was gonna go today but my leg hurts and I can’t be doing with being shoved around static bikes and walking from the furthest car park from the nec which is undoubtedly where they will put car drivers, it feels like you park in Coventry then walk to Birmingham . Plus I think I gonna start drinking soon lol
I went yesterday, it was quiet in the afternoon, in fact very quiet.. park in the train station, the entrance to the show is just at the bottom of the escalators. £9:00 for 4 hours. £25 is a lot of money but an enjoyable few hours. Think I’ll cross the new SF of my Christmas list, prefer the look of the old model. The standard one on display had £20k of extras on it
So it would cost me 10k to change my 19 Tuono plus 3k for an exhaust plus **k for extras. Perhaps not...... Sticking with the thread, if I wasnt in the middle of the Indian Ocean, I would have been at the NEC for a jolly boys day out. £25 a ticket is getting a bit steep though.
This is the problem I have with these shows, the manufacturers and stalls all pay to be there to try and sell goods. At which point did it then become ok to charge people for the pleasure? Hopefully the next time I go to buy a car/bike there won’t be an entrance fee to the dealer? What next, £5 to get in the supermarket?
