British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. Re the "Wording" I would find it preferable that a clearer understanding of the terms of an Independance Referendum were made. Something along the lines of this vote will not be repeated within for example ten years unless specific changes within the UK happen eg departing the EU etc.

With Brexit itself, I think it would have made complete sense to have a referendum to explore and negotiate leaving and mandating a confirmatory second after the completed negotiatons. This would ensure misrepresentaion by anyone campaigning could be reviewed in the fullness of time. The UK citizens aware of what the actual cost, benifits & risks could then proceed. Everyone who buys a car or double glazing is entitled to a cooling off period, and the purchasecontracts are subject to stringent rules. Not so for pivotal decisions on the countries direction which after all is the citizens future.

Still its easy for me to say this after the fact...

  3. yip. that what was in the 2016 snp manifesto. tho i didnt know, and i thaught i followed it quite closely,(without the use of alternative media, i didnt want dodgy info creeping in to my decission, doh!) that brexit, bojo and trump where predicted in 2013-4. its only recently i have seen the TV footage of it. it was givin no real air time or investigation and just brushed of by jurnos and the opponents as more greivence mongering. nothing to see here.
and it works. i still get people saying to me at my desk that its all about the english, oil is worthless and you cant run a country on whisky and shortbread sales. and will argue until they are red white and blue in the face that that is all we have.
like ruth davidson, brexit is a media construct.

  4. To be honest sometimes i wish my mrs would leave the bag in, half the time it barley looks like she's got it wet. Warm watery milk can accurately describe her tea at times, as such i drink coffee

  5. First mug of tea is an ergonomic exercise for me basically, kettle topped up at the sink, mug retrieved from the night before, switch kettle on ,swivel around to the right sweetners and meds from the cabinet, tea bag from caddy next to the kettle, swivel to the left milk from the fridge by this time kettle has boiled find a dirty spoon from the sink stir for a minute, flip the tea bag into the next available mug. Job's a good 'un all done without walking anywhere.

  6. I've only watched the first twenty mins of the program you linked to re Scottish Ref.

Now its clearly from one perspective, and I obivously don't know whether the claims are exagerated. That said the "No Borders" campaign, given massive airtime by the BBC, zero investigative research by BBC journalists, even though the group had no members and effectively did not exist is shocking. Reminds me of the BP/ Farage coverage in some ways. I'll watch the rest later - thanks Finm.

  7. it gets better. trust me.

  8. Elton Musk says no to UK Investment again due to Brexit

"Speaking at Auto Express’s sister title Auto Bild’s Golden Steering Wheel Awards, Musk also revealed that a European research and development base was also planned for Germany, in addition to the new battery manufacturing plant.

However, speaking exclusively to Auto Express after making the announcement, Musk blamed Brexit uncertainty on why the UK wasn’t considered for the new site: “Brexit [uncertainty] made it too risky to put a Gigafactory in the UK,” Musk said.

Brexit might have something to do with Musk’s change of heart over the R&D centre, too. Back in 2014, he told Auto Express that he planned to build an R&D base in the UK. Those plans have since been shelved."

  10. Polite suggestion: you would save a bit of money and CO2 if you only boil enough for what you need. Not a kettle full. :)

  11. I don't think Elon Musk would make a bad politician

  12. Or a bad musician?

  13. Don't think so, electronic music has been around for a while but I don't think electrical will make it :D

  14. He's more daft punk I feel

  15. A half truth... The beginning only shows Darrengrimes.com if you leave your cursor over the vid whilst its playing. At end it only appears after the clip has ended.

  16. That's a disservice to both 'punk' and 'daft' :D
