1198 throttle

  1. Bit of a weird one really
Have a robby moto quick action throttle - have changed the cams because it was too quick for me from 1/6th to a 1/4
The throttle take up is really weird in that -
it is very loose / smooth - the throttle is greased on the bar and spins very freely
there is inconsistent freeplay - when at low revs there is quite a bit of freeplay - too much - but when at higher revs that slack disappears so when i shut off the throttle and come back on there is little if any free play
    Is a bit disconcerting tbh
I have adjusted the adjusters on the bar to where I think it is better but when I ride it the free play has come back at low revs?

  2. Have tried adjusting at the torpedoe looking adjusters further along the cables?

  3. No - only at the bar - can adjust further at bar if need be - wouldnt the torpedo adjusters do the same thing?

  4. The freeplay should only be present at closed throttle position. Many people reduce the freeplay to absolute minimum to get a better feel for the throttle. If free play is inconsistent it would indicate a routeing / fitment issue. Revs should not rise when the bars are turned full lock left and right, test this. Check the ends of the outer sheah are securley fitted into the female sections at throttle body and twistgrip. Ensure that the inner cable has been twisted during re-assemble of the twist grip. Check the smoot operation of the twist grip with the throttle cable removed. It may take a bit of fiddling to find the cause and then cure but it should be done to ensure safe and correct operation.
