Alternator casing

    There is a plug where the site glass is on my old one any ideas why this one is different

  2. Think they stopped the glass after a certain year.
     
  3. So to set TDC with this casing you can only use the timing marks on the belt pullies?
     
  4. Just realised , all the oil will be down in the sump when setting TDC so removing this plug to do so is ok .Is this correct?

  7. Yeah, saw that, the one I'm bidding on is all I can afford at the moment, thanks any way,also I think the new one for sale is for a pre 1999 model with a different rotor/stator arrangement

  8. Has anyone got a bike with this type of casing ? Are there timing marks on the casing that line up with the rotor timing marks
     
  9. Not sure...like youve said, that case is off a later engine and the timing window is gone as are the marks on the flywheel I believe. Timing is done with a locking tool into the end of the crank and using the mark on the lower belt pulleys. It should work for you though. There's not a lot lost by not having the timing window tbh.
