Looking to find a set of track bodywork for a 2001, carbureted R6. I know some on here have tracked and even raced the R6, just hoping there is a reliable and quality supplier, preferably in the UK. Andy
My mate had this bodywork on his 5Sl. The quality was great and the finish on the gel coat is so good it doesn't need paint. http://www.superbikebodywork.co.uk/Yamaha.htm They will gel coat colours to your design within reason.
I have a brand new set of race fairings never fitted in storage. They came from Ebay, Germany and look ok. I can try to see if there is manufacture info on them. They have a belly pan aprroved for racing. I know I ordered a seat unit off a high reputuable source, and it was terrible. Would need lots of man hours and filler prior to painting, it went back but they were not easy to deal with. I might race my 1999-2002 next year otherwise I would sell the spares. I have lots. You could have what is on the bike FOC. I don't know is good or not. It is not kept where I live. I might have even thrown the seat unit. I won't be about to look until mid next week now. I use road fairings on the one I track.
That is really kind of you and also very helpful. I would greatly appreciate anything you don't want. The one thing that has become obvious is the seat under tray. The plastic has become so brittle, the tags have broken off. There has already been some great pointers. In the fullness of time, drop me a pm, I'd appreciate a chat about your experiences with the R6. Andy
the race bike I have, the subframe isn't standard. The undertray from memory it is a bit of ally sheet, fixed to the subframe. The other R6 I use on trackdays has a full road set up including lights.. vinyl wraped. If my spare frame has one you can have it, but I'm not sure I have one spare. Again from memory, I think it is a black ridgid plastic that holds the battery, Ebay? Feel free to PM me. I'm not getting rid of the bits I need, I might race next year, and if not I will sell everything I have as a package deal.
Aye and therein lies the rub, any spares are snapped up by people racing the R6. What I’m calling the under tray is the lower part of the 2 part seat. The 2 leads for race body work both use the OE seat lower. I also think that a previous owner has try to fit a later seat unit, the one with the shot gun twin light. The bike goes in for a full inspection and major service on Wednesday so I’ll wait on the verdict before being a pain in the arse Andy
