It looks like advisory notices will be sent out as there is no formal noise limit but a sign of things to come? poached from elsewhere https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...e-noise-camera-promises-catch-boy-racers.html
What bastards, although if it saves people from heart attacks diabetes and stress it’s worth it, right?
It's not a problem for us guys reading the main headline it's only in place to catch Boy Racers so we should all be ok then being upright citizens.
Just found this - undated for some reason:- It is a while since CANS has been in touch with you – but we have not been idle. Following several meetings held in Winchester with Thames Valley/Hampshire Roads Policing Unit (RPU) and Hampshire County Council we asked that they provide evidence of enforcement of the law by the RPU during this summer and for HCC Road Safety to look at recommendations CANS made to reduce the impact of road noise in our villages. The figures from the RPU below relate to just May and June. Anecdotal reports suggest that further operations have been conducted throughout July/August and I expect a further update later this month or early October. The cost of this activity is considerable and we hope to show that while it has to a certain extent improved the situation, longer term permanent deterrents in the form of Average Speed Cameras and, once developed and licenced, Acoustic Cameras would be a more cost effective way of preventing the effects of noise and associated speeding offences that all our residents experience. We would ask for your continued support in our campaign. Your help would be appreciated in lobbying the Chief Constable, Chair and CEO of SDNP, Chair of HCC Transport and Environment Committee, and the Leader of the Council, to ensure that a strategic plan is made to deal with the problem of noisy motorbikes and excessive speeding along our rural roads. Liaison between all parishes for a co-ordinated response would be most helpful. Despite some progress with enforcement, we need to ensure that we maintain pressure on the authorities to achieve our aim of quieter, safer roads. Please feel free to disseminate this information as you see fit. My mate just texted to say there is a big diesel spill on the Corhampton road approaching the A32 today should anyone be heading that way.
The CANS website has one video supposedly showing the sort of problem they (CANS) are trying to eliminate. I have to say that if that is all they can come up with they really don't have that much to whinge about; all I could see were a couple of double white line infringements and maybe some brief speeding in order to safely overtake a slower vehicle. p.s. am I the only one or does the fact that they have a steering group suggest an inflated sense of importance?
I think it's more about shutting down a traditional cafe that motorcycles attend. What's funny is that not very far at all, they have the West Meon Moto Cross Track which I'd imagine gives off some noise
Maybe they want a drive through McDonalds in its place so they don't need to get out of their Chelsea tractors.
I spend a fair bit of time socialising at Loomies and the one thing that p*sses me and others off are the inconsiderate show offs on (mainly) inline fours and virtually no silencing that have to accelerate as fast as they dare to show what accomplished riders they are to the gawping mass! Then of course, there are the anti social Harley owners with straight through pipes which should be banned as a danger to health! If, I owned a house near the A32 where the only traffic noise that I could hear was fecking noisy motorbikes, I too, would be somewhat annoyed! There are signs and posters up at Loomies asking for consideration of noise to neighbours, unfortunately falls on ignorant deaf ears of the minority. At some time in the future, this venue will be lost to the majority because of the actions of the minority with their inconsiderate riding and painfully loud exhausts, but hey whats new?
The amount of r6 and gixers that turn up with those slash-cut open pipes, just like the Harley ones, it’s ridiculous.
I couldn't agree more. I only live a few miles from Loomies and generally go out of my way to avoid it. The café is great but as said a lot of the customers, often sporting white boots and hoodies just stand around preening in their power ranger outfits, watching each other make as much (irritating inline four) noise as possible as they redline their crotch rockets up the road.
I used to go to Great Bentley on a Wednesday evening meet, sometimes the numbers would be close to a thousand but mostly around the 200-300 bikes. With any large gathering of people you will get some loons and the way the local plod dealt with it was on bike night increase the amount of cars on the lead in roads and also had bike safe units/trailer/plod on the green. You will never get rid of all the silly arses but it did reduce them
I used to go there too, Noobie. In fact, even from the very early days, late 70s and 80s. Went several times after 2008, but reduced how many times just because of the number of idiots. AL
