Hi,going to be refreshing the coolant/antifreeze in the 1260 multistrada, do I refill system through header bottle or cap on radiator.
I have found in the past, to avoid any air locks, as the bike warms up repeatedly squeeze and release the hoses several times, especially the one from the radiator into the water pump. Bears repeating, don’t release the radiator cap until the bike has cooled down. After it has cooled, check the level in the radiator, top up to full and then run again. Top up the overfill bottle to the correct level when you are happy that the system is working, as in fan on at about 105 and fan turns off about 100. Andy
As Andy says, and despite what the Ducati workshop manuals (at least for the 1198S) say - on that bike, the expansion bottle is lower than the radiator filler cap, so I don't think ther's any way you could fill it that way. Hope the radiator cap is easier to get at on a Multistrada than on the 1198...
Also put the bike on it's sidestand not the centre stand as it tips the radiator up allowing air to escape from radiator
