  1. On my SS I found one in the tank, another in the seat, and one in the warning lights circuit board box.

  2. Oh Oh BTW you were right about the carb connector, apologies to all, i can't find any on flea bay but still searching, there is a double bump seal in the connector and am wondering wether to let it go, they are not perished in anyway.
The inner timing cover fittings are available from (Cornerspeed) Neil he would have to order them . I might fabricate a pair of alloy ones as seen, the price of originals work out about £50.
Today i do be mostly taking the seat to my local seat lady, it had worn through on either side on the bottom edges, rest of the cover perfect, she kindly undo the sides and stretched the cover a tad and re- stapled FOC, lovely girl i like free things me. Rear brake master cylinder wasn't returning when applied , stripped and cleaned without opening the fluid system, rusty push rod and sticky piston in the nylon slider, works well now. Clutch slave cyl really manky, paint removed and cleaned up i might just leave it polished alloy looks nice with the all matt black engine. Still awaiting more paint to arrive will post pics when done.
Back in from the cave now, the wife has been baking cakes all day for the Care home Xmas fete Friday, Lemon Drizzle, Dundee, and a nice light fruit cake which she doubled up on half of it has gone down the neck already.

    yep our own Lady Di.

  5. 748 - one in araldite inside rear wheel spoke. Another in tank. Another one.....??

  6. After a little struggle on my own managed to get the engine back in, sometimes that extra pair of hands means all the difference. The wife is out doing her voluntary admin work, she is not well herself but has a care home job a couple days a week and this voluntary work on a Thursday never around when you want them.

  11. Does the header pipes have sealing rings in the cylinder heads, can't find any trace of them ?
Got some 48mm crush rings but not sure wether to use them or not.

  12. yes, should have had - again, haven't bought some for a while but must be available.

  14. They are still available from Ducati. Under a fiver iirc. They tend to meld with the exhaust port, I bet they're in there.

  15. Moto Rapido will probably have them.

IIRC they also give a small discount for this forum's members.

  16. Thanks i got some...

  17. Headers are back on they are in a sound condition so haven't painted them or tried to polish them. Rear wheel back in with a new thrust bearing fitted in the rear brake hanger. Awaiting a clutch master repair kit it was blocked up with contaminated fluid. Oil and new filter changed 10-40 Castrol synthetic, cleaned the oil screen as well. New air filter to fit as well, then cable tie up the wiring whilst re fitting the Exy cable set.

  18. The Brembo clutch master cylinder kit arrived, cleaned and assembled, attempted to bleed the system every way possible not even a dribble from the M/cyl . Removed for further inspection bearing in mind the reservoir was bunged up with rust and contaminated fluid. Cleaned the supply hole at the base of the reservoir and noted another hole which appeared as a blank, further probing revealed a pin hole which i cleared with a darning needle, hoping this was the reason for non function . Too cold will enter the cave tomorrow and re-assemble. Anyone else confronted this problem ? Here's a few shots of the reservoir the shiny hole was the offending hole.

  19. I can't remember if you have one or two galleries Tony but if you have cleared it/them, and you are happy that the bore is not worn or corroded badly then it should be straight forward. It's a genuine kit i'm sure? The only problem that regularly occurs is a "dry" cylinder:- sometimes it's hard to get all the chambers immersed in fluid which is enough to stop the whole hydraulic action. The only way is to persevere with entering fluid into the bore through the outlet and bleed junctions as well as the feed until moving the piston starts to eject fluid. If really stubborn then best done "on the bench" as it can get messy. When you are happy that the bore is partly immersed then you can connect everything up and a lot of air can be expelled just from keep moving the lever through it's full stroke, not too quickly though before starting to bleed conventionally. There are many tricks here also which I can p.m. you with but hopefully others will add info.

  20. When you have got some fluid into the system and have a reasonably hard pressure, to get a proper flush through; jam the pads/pistons right back and block them so they can't move.

Then hold the lever right back as hard as you can (cable tie it if there is no help available) and undo the bleed nipple for one side.

Close the nipple and start again for the other side.

When bleeding I always turned the front wheel to the left to get the reservoir as high as possible....even better if on the kickstand.

However, in the end I always found it easier to use a large syringe connected to the bleed nipple and force it in upwards, same with the other side.....but you need someone to watch the reservoir and also cover the paint work.
