It’s a polyamide one They swell with moisture too, but I would be interested in a measurement to check against mine Then have 2nd dibs after baylissboy his has had 3 tanks already though - bit greedy
They all swell apart from the aluminium tanks. I’ve got a spare red tank for mine - for when the time comes! Not sure how you’d go about measuring it.
Overall width is easiest - put it on a flat surface - a couple of squares up to the extreme points (widest part of the tank) and measure the gap OR touch one side to a square wall off your kitchen top - if your walls are square...
I remember @Robarano telling me that my bike has already had a tank (or three), it looks ok at the moment, so I don't want to be greedy!! If you want it @Exige be my guest.
I take it that these tanks are of the same type as fitted to 1098's of the same era, I hear alot about the Streetfighter tanks swelling but not 1098's, do they not have the same issue & if they do, why haven't I heard about it? As you know, I've had a 1098 Tricolore & 2 Bayliss reps & I've not had any issues with tanks?
Same type other than the shape - they all go. Check the clearance to the steering damper to the tank on your Bayliss … Not sure if they changed away from Nylon later on.
For those worried about any unplanned swelling I’ve measured the tank using a piece of string running from the bottom of the letter D on one side of the tank to the bottom of the letter I on the other of the DUCATI logos. It measures 422mm. When I measured the tank on my own SFS using the same reference points it measures 426mm, so it appears my own tank is on the move.
Mine measure 426mm, but I guess the Decal Application could vary knowing Ducati. Better to check the overall width
Reviving an oldthread here, and at a bit of a long shot, my tank has swollen, the steering lock doesn't engage, looking for one in red? thanks in advance
