Got a system a couple of years ago via maplin - works well can watch on phone but also records to a hard drive holds 3 months at any time
Mate is an alarm engineer - says only use wireless systems if youve got other choice as the wireless can be blocked....i use a HikVision camera - hardwired, just needs a network cable and powered over that...has a 250gb memory card on board which records a month of video but longer if you just get it to record when motion is detected...
Just circling back to this. Got the cam in a couple of days. Easy to set up app (sort of), put in garage and works great! Be warned: even on lowest setting a moth sets the alert off. Recommended and will be buying a couple more for indoors
I had that issue until I realised that you can adjust the window area of the screen that the motion activation covers in the settings. It allows you to make it as small as you like and whichever part of the picture too. This almost stops the. Rose alarms from flies/moths unless of course they fly through the ‘window’ you have set
Done that and set for just the door. And they fly straight thru it lol I had one that I couldn’t explain...one of those ufo-type splodges that the time-hat brigade love to talk about. Or a ghost: can’t decided which
really ought to sort out an exterior rig but would prefer a system where you have 100% free access to data without paying for a cloud-only £££ drip-feed arrangement (as I understand it).
You dont pay for anything on the one I bought, but its internal only. Sure they must do external ones tho. It’s and SD for recording, or you can review the footage on an alert and record it then. Not tried that yet to see if its saved to phone memory or tries to put in the camera providers cloud, I’ll have as go later
Just tried it. If you choose download, it drops it on your phone Now off to look at their external cams and get a couple more internal ones....
I have Wansview cameras, one internal, two external. All record to a Synology NAS in the house. Can be viewed via an app on my phone when I'm away from home.
First and foremost im not saying anyone on here is, but, more often than not you can get a network cable somewhere if you need to - in my case ive got a couple of mates who moan about wireless in the house - getting alarm systems in etc etc but at the end of the day they cant be bothered to do the hard work to get the cable to where they want it...ie pulling up a carpet, pulling floorboards up, digging a trench in the garden etc etc...one of my mates has been moaning about his house and all the above things since he moved in (about 10 years ago) and i always say the same thing... Ie for me to get network cables and an aerial line into the garage took pretty well the entire weekend...but once its done, its done...
I installed 2 of these a year or so ago & I'm very happy with them & the phone app. They are HD with sound & can record to an SD card, box or cloud (via subscription). Can be WiFi or LAN. I bought these because of the setup options. They can play a sound on movement detection (soft or loud) & can also flash a strobe light deterrent. The inbuilt siren is also very loud; we had cause to use this recently & all hell breaks loose (siren & flashing lights). Good for the money & look like H.A.L. 9000. https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8883360
I've just wired cat 6 to all my TV points, computers and installed the cables ready for the cctv. It was a pita but as you say it's done now. I have a Nest cam on my other house which is offline half the time and I wouldn't bother with wireless again personally.
Id say 80% of the network traffic in our house goes over the hard cable....tv's, satellite receviers, boiler, computers, streaming sticks, alarm, cctv etc etc.... i ran out on a 48 port switch and have tagged an 8port on the back of it....
