848 - Angel Gt 2 Vs Diablo Rosso 3

Discussion in 'Tyres' started by Curtis Reid, Dec 6, 2019.

  1. Hello All,

It's yes, another tyre thread, but just looking for a little more input than I can garner over reading a few historical threads.

Have seen a couple very positive reviews regarding the Angel GT 2, and I'm currently using Angel GT's, so I'm leaning towards these, I have however seen that the Diablo Rosso 3's are much better in the wet than the previous DR2's.

Does anyone have any recent wet experience on the DR3's and the GT 2's? I'm a reserved rider "most" of the time and use the bike for mostly commuting with the odd weekend ride in the warmer months. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

  2. Wear will be much faster with the Diablo. Angel gt2 a very good road tyre. Diablo more sporty.

  3. I had the gt2's on my fugley and had no problems, would have bought another pair

  4. Can't comment on Angel GT2 but I have Angel GTs on the Monster (previously had Diablo Rosso 2), the GTs wear much better as the rear DR2 was done in 1500 miles and for me, on the Monster at least, the grip from the GT is fine even in the wet.

I've got DR3s on the 916 (previously had DR2) and they are very good although I've not really tested them in proper wet, they even last fairly well but I think the 916 is just a better balanced bike than the Monster (would think an 848 would be too?) and have always had decent tyre wear from it whereas the Monster seems to chew them up much quicker despite having 30hp less (maybe it encourages more hooliganism?).

But I would definitely recommend the Rosso 3s for a sportsbike based on my experience.

  5. I can't speak for the Angels, but can vouch for the Rosso 3s.

I went through northern Italy the weekend in May when the WorldSBK race was cancelled because of rain. Loads of flooding and standing water. I was amazed how good they were in the wet, and down to freezing at some points through the mountains. And very good in the dry too...lots of feel. That was on a Supersport S. I only got about 4500 miles out of a set though.

I've got a Multi 1200 dvt now, and going to have Rosso 3s fitted before going to the Picos next May.

  6. I've had Rosso 3's on Daytona until recently, I only did 1k miles on them and didn't get on with them, the front just didn't give me confidence for whatever reason, just felt like it was going to tuck as soon as I lean 'off center' which is really un-nerving. If I wanted a full road tyre for this time of year I would go Angel GT.

  7. I put some Rosso III's on, and they didn't inspire me with confidence, had the same feeling like they were going to tuck. I had S21 before, so went with the new S22 and they are awesome, and I have only ridden on them in this greasy wet roads but still way more confidence inspiring than the Rosso III's. But never ridden on Angel GT so they may suit your need better, but I am happy with S21/22's.
