Hi all, I’ve recently joined this forum and this is my first question, earlier this year I replaced my 2014 Multistrada for a 2017 1200S Multistrada which is all good, the problem I have is the top box. I kept the official Ducati top box off the 2014 model thinking it would fit straight onto my 2017 bike, how wrong I was. I have spoken to the Ducati dealer they advise I will need to purchase a new box which come with the fitting kit at over £500. Does anybody know if there is fitting kit for the 2014 top box onto 2017 model, I’ve attached a picture showing the 2014 genuine Ducati fitting kit and box that does not fit on my 2017 Multistrada, someone must have come across this issue before, well I hope so?
Plenty of info on here about this. You don’t need to get another Topbox you just need the new bracket and plate, which you can get separately, in the region of £200 if my memory serves me
Took some finding but think everything you’ll need is covered in this post https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/urban-pack-any-photos-topbox-plate-please.36505/
Or you can fit a Ventura luggage rack with a givi plate and have the option to move the top box forward for fast “loaded” riding
Who ever the dealer is, they need setting straight. Trying to sell you an identical topbox just to get the mounting hardware is quite frankly rediculous. I would make a point of telling them they were talking rubbish, and you won't be using them again unless they can make good with a decent discount on the parts
General rule of thumb is to look at ducati extras options for that year and see if the part numbers match to the latter ones. I do this with Givi and sw motech too.. It does sound o/p as you've described it that the dealer may have been a bit naughty when a simple top plate/fitting kit change may have been all that is needed. Your "attached picture" hasn't been attached and is not visible
I have spoken with two Separate Ducati dealers and a Givi dealer, all have said the same, in that the mounting/fitting kit cannot be purchased separately, money making between Ducati and Givi. Hopefully pictures attached this time.
If you want an original,. But be quick. There’s one on https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/3034016740...6n7iON6cPf-cPuY2D-KqifF9AfSMESbBoChOgQAvD_BwE They used to be Wolverhampton Ducati I think
I think I’d go for the venture option anyway. I had it on my 2016 model, worked brilliantly. You can have it over the black seat or in the traditional position. You just need their top box kit and bike specific brackets. Then a standard givi adapter plate which is roughly 30 quid extra. Total for around £210.
Just buy the bits as shown in the link on post #3 earlier. I did exactly this earlier this year to fit the topbox that I've had from my 2010 bike and on each of my Multistradas, now also fitted to my 2018 Enduro. The bits were under 200 quid, and easy enough to fit.
I’ve got an sw motech top plate that I used on my 2017 DVT if you can find an adapter to go in between. I personally don’t like the plastic panniers and opted for givi outback trekkers.
