He's been 'out' for as long as I have listened to him on R4. The shit is that his long-term civil partner (in a publicly celibate relationship), who is also a vicar/thingy, has died and some of the Rev R Coles' delightful Christian neighbours/parishioners have stated that the dead partner is "....now in hell... You have to be a pretty sad sack, to sit down and write a letter like that. What goes on in these people's heads? He should have just lobbed them in the bin and got on with his life. However as this will now be treated as a hate crime by police and the people writing these letters probably aren't the sharpest tools in the box, it would be slightly amusing to see them exposed, and the media turning up at their door to stick a camera in their faces. Oh, he always appears to be a funny bloke actually and very self deprecating.
