Oil filter 748

  1. Anyone able to advise as to why I get weeping past the oil filter on a 748?
Any tips to avoid this - how tight do you tighten - hand tight or tighter?
Also I assume that the smearing oil on the o ring rings true for this as with all other bikes I have serviced?

  2. It needs to be a little tighter, a little oil or grease on the seal and a
good turn by hand should be all that is required. :).

  3. If you are still having trouble it may be worth checking the stud that the filter screws on to, it is threaded into the crank cases, it could need tightening.

  4. Is it possible that there are 2 rubber sealing rings because the one on the old filter stuck to the engine and wasn't noticed?...

  5. Should be tightened to 11 NM according to to the script printed on the filter body. Had a similsr problem last year on my 748 and 998 both slightly leaking , tightened up and all ok.

  6. Another victory for experience, think I'll be taking some bits to work soon.:upyeah:
