  1. Do you allow someone who is well paid but where the dog is often alone during the day? I.e. working couple...

  2. Yeah, but he's going to 'have' the dog for 1 year...and you'll have it for maybe 15. The primary consideration surely has to be the 'right' dog ?

  3. Nope. That's a 'Red line' for me. And I couldn't give a shit how much they earn, as long as it's clearly enough to give a dog proper care.

  5. Which is why so many dogs are euthanised each year. And its utter nonsense.

When pups, being able to get home at lunch is useful, but no idea where this 'they cant be alone' bollocks has come from. Always had dogs as a kid. Everyone worked. Dog survived. From Yorkie to Great Dane.

Only real issue, owner issue, is if you think they wont cause damage. Only breeder issue, imho, is if they cage them during the day and are likely to offload because of damage from leaving them alone.

  6. Mate..I breed Border Collies. If you think a young one of those is going to be happy being left alone for significant hours on a daily basis?... you don't know anything about the breed. And...None of my puppies end up being euthenised, or re-homed (they come back to me if they can't stay with their new owners. It's in the contract ;)), or remain un-sold (If I had puppies I couldn't sell, they'd stay right where they are with me .... for life).

But I have no problem homing/selling my puppies (and btw, we only have a litter approx. every 18-24 months). In fact I have a waiting list going into probably 2024 ish. I don't advertise when I have a litter, but still get enquiries from all over the UK and the world e.g. Australia, Cyprus, Canada, Russia, Turkey etc. etc.. (btw..another of my 'Red lines' is that no puppy of mine goes abroad)

Anyways, I can choose who I sell/entrust one of my puppies to, based on whatever criteria I decide (....and I'm bloody choosey :D).

  8. Sure you do and its what you feel is right.

Doesn't stop thousands of dogs being put down because that 5 yr or 8yr old dog cant get a home where either unemployed, retired or only 1 weaker in the house and agencies wont allow working people to regime a dog.

And most dogs are OK left alone. They will damage the home (probably) but they can have a good life OK. Ours always did. :upyeah:

  13. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make? Is it that some people are breeding (Milling) more puppies than they can correctly home? And that means the lesser of 2 evils is for some dogs to go to otherwise loving homes, but get left alone most days? If it is, then I 100% agree with you. And, I'm not disputing that some dogs are fine being left for a while each/every day. Just not a Border Collie........or one of my puppies. It is about time Puppy Mills/farms were stamped out. BTW..Not rowing, but did briefly take a little offence....................................................I'm over it now though :D

  14. Shite cat. 'Dogs are the way' "mandalorian"

  15. That all the rescue charities work to the tight standards you are. Which is very unrealistic if trying to home a 6yr old mongrel.

  16. Yes. He’s quite small though compared to the last we had. But he’s going to be bulky I think.

  17. Shame the same screening doesn't apply to having kids.

  18. Beautiful!

I knew someone who had a pair and one of them put one of her friends in A&E. The cat was hiding inside the sofa when her mate sat down, didn’t take kindly to being disturbed and slashed her mate on the arse so badly he needed stitches. :astonished:

Are yours the same type? The breed with inch long fangs and claws?
