900 Cylinder Head Identification

Discussion in 'Monster' started by suruppak, Jan 28, 2020.

  1. I am looking at purchasing a 90s M900, and I have read a lot of posts about identifying the large and small valve heads (V and W stamps). However, can someone tell me, or better yet, show me a picture of where this stamping is? I am going to go look at a Monster, and I'd like to verify what heads are on it. I have looked at many pictures of heads for sale on eBay, but I can't see any stampings anywhere.

    Thanks!

can you see the "W" on the right hand head? - a "V" would also be found at this location. :upyeah:

  4. Thanks for the picture Chris!

That's good to know Mark, I assumed the difference would be noticeable.

  5. Yes I did before owning them, if you look at the specs above it confirms there’s little difference, slightly more torque on the 900ss, what I would say is the air cooled monster is a great bike (as is the 900ss), don’t delay in owning one!.
