When I get some insurance money, I plan to get another bike. It was going to be a Kawasaki Versys 650 until I discovered hat a Multistrada seat height is no greater. So, it would be a Multistrada. But looking into Multisradas turned me on to the Moto Guzzi Breva. And I've never owned a Guzzi before. So given the choice between a Kasasaki 650 Versys (new), a Multistrada (nearly new), or a Guzzi Breva (old), what would you choose? Main use will be messing around in Wales and touring in Europe (Poland at least once). Oh and my nearest bike place is Frasers who do Kawasaki.
@PerryL I currently have 2 Guzzis and have previously had a 1200 Multi. The Multi was one of the 2 or 3 most capable all round bikes I have ever ridden but I really did not like it very much at all and was very pleased to sell it. I think it is the adventure type riding position that puts me off as I have ridden 3 now, a Triumph, an MV and the Multi, and could not get on with any of them. The Guzzis I have are an 1100 Breva & a 1200 Norge. The Breva is a fantastic all round bike and is loads of fun. Not fast by bike standards but not boringly slow either and it is very comfy . A bit like going for a ride on your favourite armchair. I liken it to a hippo, surprisingly graceful and fast for such a big lump. The Norge was bought to try to tempt the Mrs in to coming on a tour with me but I dont think it is going to work sadly. It is if anything even more comfortable than the Breva and has a brilliant fairing that blocks everything.Again not fast but fun. If you are ever over my way ( Bedfordshire) you are most welcome to have a sit on both bikes and have a go on them too if you like, presuming you have 3rd party cover. Guzzis are very heavy though so not suitable if you are after something light.
Don’t whatever you do, look at the MG Stelvio. It is without doubt the biggest pile of sh1t, according to my next door neighbour. Cams made from cheese amongst a myriad of faults. Andy
Not really. The Versys seems to get better reviews and I have a dealer just up the road. I think that the Suzuki would need significantly better reviews to tip the balance.
Useful. As the Stelvio Pass has good memories for me, then I was drawn towards it. I think that was a short-lived interest!
The weight is concentrated low down and as long you dont intend pushing it up a hill it is no problem. They are very maneuverable and have a good turning circle. Avoid the 4 valve per cylinder bikes from around 2009-2012 as they had serious problems with reliability as mentioned above . Anything earlier or later should be fine.
Not the prettiest, but an awful lot of inovation and clever design. https://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/mv/mv_agusta_tricruiser Veloce 800 14.htm
I'm cured! Forget all this Kawasaki crap, if I get anything then it will be a Ducati! But I am gonna stick with and get back on the road, my ST2 and ST3! I have to scrape through an eyesight test or have an op but I will only get another Ducati, if anything! I was going to buy a car as well but I doubt if I will bother. I think that I will use trains and taxis. I'll just mess up my carbon footprint with bikes!
Good point and I didn't say Guzzi were crap! Looks good. Trouble is: Went to see an optimist today. No! She was an optometrist but may well be optimistic!!! She will refer me to another consultant but she doesn't think that it is my eyes but my brain! I did have a brain bleed after my accident (I have seen the x-ray and it is not nice!). The brain bleed could have damaged where optic nerves connect to the brain. I have to see another consultant but there is nothing that they can do about it :-(((
Hope you get better mate! Multistrada would be my choice, 950s for what it is you are saying you want to do, plus loads of them around.
Still better looking than a Mutley though! I regularly used to pass one of these MVs parked up in my local area and they look ok in the flesh.
Never had a Guzzi before but tried! This bike works for me - just need to get my eyesight sorted out!
