Porsche 911 Rip

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by HyperMac, Aug 5, 2019.

  1. This seems to be dividing opinions as I suppose would be expected. I think the older cars offer a more visceral experience with an air of nostalgia, where as the new cars are cutting edge technology that maximise performance and efficiency whilst being idiot proof. But I think the values of the older cars tell you which are the most popular.

  3. Especially the auto ones....

  4. I had to take a 1973 911 2.4S in brown in part exchange....

...it looked like a shitheap and it drove like one.

I sold it after 3 months of trying to get it to run right.

  5. My brother inlaw had a limited edition Club Sport similar to this.
Classic & Sports Car – No-reserve classic Porsches give buyers rare opportunity – 1.png
He had to wait nearly a year for delivery and was offered three times it's purchase price before he'd taken delivery. 3.2 naturally aspirated engine but the interior trim was very basic.

  6. The last of the great 911's,but very raw to drive with a heavy clutch pedal/suspension setup etc:upyeah:

  7. He only took me out in it once, it left a lasting impression.

  14. Lovely. I’d have loved to have been able to stretch to a turbo

  15. You’re not using it hard enough!. Put 10 heaped spoonfuls of coffee in it with no milk, then down it in one. That’ll give you an unforgettable visceral experience!:D

  16. That's lovely!
Can I ask why you didn't get a GT3? I guess this is a much better daily but I couldn't not have a GT3 given the chance!

  17. 3 times the cost probably

  18. Without worrying too much about spec it looks as though a similar aged GT3 is a very similar cost.
3 times the price of this will get a new GT2 RS....

Not meaning to ruin the thread at all by the way, I love 911's and really miss my old 997.2.

  19. I’m enjoying reading how opinion is split between ‘old’ and ‘new’ shaped 911s...

  20. I was going on the price being 25k ish and gt3 more like 75k as I’d thought it was early variant turbo but no idea what the hairy one paid
