I go every couple of years and TBH, it’s better to watch it with mates or somewhere like a biker cafe showing it on a big screen. The atmosphere last time was pretty flat and there seemed to be fewer spectators and as Silverstone seems half empty at the best of times, that’s never good news. The previous year’s debacle with the flooding and then the fvckery getting a refund probably left a lot of people with a nasty taste in their mouths. They also have the cheek to ask £35 for parking in a field now, which hasn’t happened in years gone by.
My experience was a little different. I was at Mugello, Misano (WSBK) by luck rather than deliberately and camped at Silverstone. Personally I enjoyed Silverstone, since my previous experience was Knockhill BSB...anything after that is fucking amazing. Bought a lid, had a good laugh at the campsite and never spent the fortune that others did. Seats were at Luffield, so saw Marquez getting pipped at the end. Lost my wallet and got it back, half pissed on Saturday as my mate gave me some vodka and diet Irn Bru in one of his special bottles and got a suntan. Met some old racers in the tent next that were a good laugh. And my pal got a smelly finger (Please don't ask, yes it is what you think). Trip Advisor 9/10... I wasn't going to go as my mum had died the weekend before, everyone convinced me to go anyway even though I felt I shouldn't. Even she would have wanted me to go as she loved bikes. Anyway, don't let me coerce you into anything....
