Absolutely, and some people in London have sold their house only accepting payment in Bitcoin. No one is forcing anyone to accept Bitcoin-authorities shouldn’t try to stop me or anyone else from accepting. Personal choices
Britain's first Bitcoin heist as trader forced at gunpoint to transfer cyber currency - The Telegraph
Shameless pasting from today; The cryptocurrency dropped to as low as $8,155 at 0915 GMT on the Luxembourg-based bitstamp exchange amid a broader rout in the market. Other large cryptocurrencies have lost more than 20 percent of their value in the last 24 hours of trading, according to Coinmarketcap.com. Oh dear...
A bit like life then...there are good days, and bad days. I'll be honest and say I lost a bit when Bitconnect collapsed, not a fortune but enough to make me wince and wish I'd bought another British bike project instead. But I've not lost faith in the concept of cryptocurrencies, and I'm not anywhere near the point of selling up/giving in. On Black Monday,(when one wealthy individual conspired to make himself even richer by massive currency speculation) ,my mortgage interest rate doubled in hours, leaving my missus in tears and genuine fears for our future. But we didn't rush out and put our house keys through the estate agents door,we braved it out, just like millions of others. When new technologies are introduced, people have to embrace them in order for them to become mainstream. I'm one of them,a lot of people aren't. And I don't want the likes of George Soros deciding what I should pay in interest ever again.
Alive and well ? It's certainly alive .... trading at around $9550 today .... dunno about "well" But if you own any OneCoin .... be scared , be very scared .... unless you happen to be with the vanished Dr Ruja .... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-50041579
It's not doing too badly. The app on my phone shows that Bitcoin around 100% higher than when I bought into it,so not a bad return for around 15/18 months "investment",(gamble). I'm fortunate in that if it all goes pete tong it will be just something to whinge about as it's not a life changing amount and I haven't bet the farm on it. Definitely not for the faint-hearted,but a little more likely to get a return than a Lottery ticket.
" Invest " is a good way to put it .... with the quotes Punt is another way , and I think it's more interesting than casino gambling , or horses For anyone into the whole crypto-currency scene , this site is worth a look https://coinmarketcap.com/
It'll be interesting in the next few years certainly. If you believe some of the hype, some think it will eclipse the .com bubble. I think eventually it will be the way money will be moved around. The old methods through normal banking are expensive and slow, it'll not be long before that changes. Cash will eventually disappear.
cash may or almost certainly disappear but do you think the powers that be will not still have a stranglehold on wealth? much as the current fuel suppliers wont suffer too much on the switch of energy supply... what has been poo pooed by the banks will be something they will take over sure enough...(if they haven't already)
