Dedicated Track Bike... Gsxr750 Or Daytona 675 Or Another One?

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by alex_gr, Mar 1, 2020.

  1. this winds me up so much on this forum!! He bought a dog and it blew up, they don’t all blow up! In fact I’ve had 3 and never had a single issue, my mates have had 3-4 between them and no issues!

It’s a flexible engine and if you get an R model it’s well spec to start with so makes a great track bike. Around Almeria it was easily capable of keeping up with the 750’s but on long straights it would loose out.

  3. I used to have a GSXR 750ww SRAD. Did loads of track days on it with no problem. I would go for a Suzuki. The 750 would keep up with pretty much anything. It was less of a handful than 1000s and so could corner quicker.

  4. Tbf wander around any race paddock and it’s clear they aren’t that reliable. But if you get a good one they seem the perfect low-power balance.

  5. Good to have a number of opinions on this one but must admit the perception is that the gixxers are bulletproof for sure.

To your point the r version seems very very tasty

  6. That was my thought exactly. The 750 seems the best compromise and is still fast enough

  7. Sign of a good bike if people are not selling them.

My k8 with under 10k mls was under £4k. Spent a bit on new exhaust, front brake master, front calipers/hoses. and a paint job. Also just had front forks rebuilt and revalved by 100% suspension.

A set of lightweight OZ wheels and you'd be at £6k.

  8. Mate of mine has just picked up a GSXR750 track bike up in a job lot. Looked to be fairly well sorted. If it’s any use, I can find out more about it if you want? Don’t think he’s keeping it.

  10. You are spot on with what I was thinking!

  11. Anyone has experience with Honda Fireblade 1000 2009 or so model as a track bike?

There are some nice options out there in very recent money

  12. ive not had one but they seem to be good bikes, early bikes were supposed to have oil burning problems.

id stick with Suzuki or Kawasaki personally.

  14. No but when I was looking i discovered the 2008 had issues with cranks going so just be mindful it's a 09 not 08.

    There is a
    2008 especially

  15. Forget all this 4 stroke crap! Go for an RD or TZ350!

    You will learn a lot!!!!

  16. Not much wrong with blades tbh.

the very cheap ones are very low spec though.

at the money I’d be more inclined to look at a gen 4 zx10. You can get pretty well specced ones for 7-10k
