Anyone Else With An "auto-login" Problem?

Discussion in 'Forum How To's - create an Avatar/Event/Group etc?' started by Chris, Mar 18, 2020.

  1. two devices, other (phone) has no problem. It worked for over an hour so must be getting warm (sic).

  2. Can you clear cookies on both devices at same time and retry? I'm wondering if the phone settings are refreshing those on the other device, assuming you have Chrome set to sync across devices.

    Long shot.

  3. I really thought you'd cracked it Loz, I did as you suggested on both machines - P.C. then behaved for an hour or so but just threw me off 3 times in a minute - most odd, Thanks for trying.

  4. Yeah, OK, this is pretty weird now.

Can you try a different browser? Opera, maybe? And (ugh), Edge?

I've occasionally seen Chrome act in very broken ways. Just like to eliminate Chrome from our list of suspects.

Is it only Duc Forum that is messing with you?

  5. My thoughts also, including the Ugh. This was the first thing that the nice Microsoft lady said. What a great shame Mozilla had to go and fuck up Firefox, I liked that for many years. It has happened on one other site also which behaved okay in the same time window slot as this forum did.

  6. I still use Firefox on my laptop. What don’t you like about it?

  7. Try using Opera. It's a decent stopgap which I used when I fell out of love with Chrome a while back.

On your phone you could try DuckDuckGo, if you're Android. If you're iPhone, you can just go to Hell.*

    *I don't mean that.**

    ** Not totally, anyway.

  10. @Rob - any clues as to why @Chris is having these problems?

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  11. All forums use a software platform to run on ; this one uses Xenforo .
There are several popular ones and they all have a "control panel"
so that the owner / admin of the forum can tweak the various features
    and settings .

What they can't control is "upstream" changes made by the software creators

I think that this is what you guys are suffering from right now , and I think
that it's the same issue as all of the Quantcast crap .

I seriously doubt that @Rob can do anything about it , except migrate to a
different forum software ..... and trust me , you really don't want to do that .

... just my two grozny worth ...:)

  12. I suppose it's possible that tinkering at the back-back-end of the forum software would affect a limited subset of users - the law of unintended consequences - but I'd expect to see more than a single user affected. Still possible though.

  13. I was quite impressed with your help for a few posts there, then just like a balloon popping you reverted back to normal, you really are a lost cause.:eyes:;) Steve
