Due to my leathers being tight and having no pockets and my 749 mono having no little storage area under the seat; I need a small tank bag or some kind of utility for holding an iPhone, a wallet and a house key. It would need to be small and discrete and not interfere with riding. Any ideas? I'm thinking I'll end up with a bum bag
Tom Ducati make a tank bag, perfect for your requirements, they are ridiculously expensive though. They are rarely found on e bay, and when they do appear they seems to fetch a high price. I have one, very quick to attach to the bike and work very well.
Is the 749 plastic tank? If so look for an old multi tank bag, works on my 848 altho maybe little big. If its metal (not alli) then good old Oxford or whatever and get a map pocket, pretty flat, sticks to the tank and enough space for what you describe. I may even have one somewhere, I have loads of shite like that! Lol
749 tank is metal, the base of the tank bag's holder contains powerful magnets that stick to the tank.
Crystaljohn Could you pop up a picture sometime? Google isn't proving very helpful on this one. Thank you for your replies, that tank bag looks good but is it possible to get them smaller so it doesn't ruin the look of the tank? I'll keep my eye on that auction too
Here's the offending item Tom. Has a map holder on the top, handle to carry it, for size reference, you can just about fit a pair of jeans in it, and a 1/2 litre of water bottle.
Be prepared to pay 20 times as much tho...form of function...but looks way better Or decent bum bag...
In fairness, although it is ridiculously expensive, it does it's job very well. Totally unobtrusive, fits the tank well, is very well made ( by some poor third world child no doubt) detaches from the tank in seconds, looks good. Sounding like a bloody salesperson now:frown:
Thank you CrystalJohn Again it's a bit big. I was hoping for something just over the width and length of an iphone that i can get some cash in to. If I was to purchase some suitably strong magnets could I just pop them in any case of my choosing, that I could just stick that on the tank?

+1 what Nutty Nick said. They've got a BikeTec magnetic phone case for £14.99. It's got to be worth a look at that price. Have you got a Hein Gericke anywhere near you? Last time I went into the one in Taunton they had few really small tank bags - might be worth a look too. I always find Hein Gericke worth a visit purely for comedy value! Never in the world of retail can any "sales" staff be quite as crap as the HG ones!

I've got an HG mini tank bag, it'll hold a phone, wallet, small map and half a litre of water. But the shape, triangular, makes it poor to pack. I use a cheap Oxford bum bag now, I can keep loads of tools, water, Mars Bar, and it even has a pocket for a clear visor. It's not waterproof, so if you use it in crap weather it'll need a dry bag inside, but pretty good and cheap.
Hi mate I've got one of those that I may be looking at selling as I'm not using it. I'll be honest not sure how much I want though as hard to gauge price as only one worldwide new on bay for 170 and none showing in completed listings
