Carbon rear hugger

  1. Went to fit my new rear carbon dp hugger and managed to round off the screw head of the most awkward screw to remove! It is the screw that is not needed when fitting the carbon hugged as it only has 3 screws.
luckily for me i went to riders in Bristol and they told me I need to buy different screws for the carbon part and I should not use the screws from the plastic part.
I am today going to phone them and get the screws for the other carbon parts I have fitted using the standard screws!
I also need to get myself a Dremel to get that bloody screw out I have been looking for an excuse to buy one tbh so that's okay!

  2. Hurrah!

  3. Put a bit of copperslip on the new bolts to stop the corroding between steel and ally.

  4. Why are the screws different for the carbon part? I've never heard of this before.

  5. Probably because the standard bolts are ' Shouldered ' for the thickness of the plastic and the carbon fibre will be different thickness meaning it might not tighten up .

  6. Ah right, you live and learn :upyeah:

  7. Fitted!Looks really nice but not sure whether to put the forth screw back in to cover the bare paint mark on the swing arm? Has anyone else added the hugger and had the same dilemma? Cheers. rear hugger 2.jpg rear hugger.jpg

  8. I'd put the "spare" bolt in to finish the look. It looks like the hugger is quite a bit shorter than the OEM plastic offering, is this the case? I'd like to fit a CF hugger as I've opened up the back end of my bike with losing the pegs and tail tidy and the hugger doesn't look the part now.

  9. Hi count.
The dp carbon hugger is much shorter than standard and does look great in the flesh.
I will put the spare bolt back in with a black washer beneath it to tidy that area up a bit.
I also have the dp tail tidy, dp led indicators and dp carbon undertray to fit out the back yet so plenty to be getting on with!
Also going to purchase the dp carbon exhaust hanger and fit the lot in one go.
Then last but not least will come the termi's and that will be the back end sorted.
    cheers

  10. I have the exact same DP hugger on my 1098. I put the pin back into the hole and tightened correctly just to keep it tidy. Did this last year.

  11. does the dp hugger come in 2 different lengths or just short like this? looks good btw
