Exhaust Headers - Harpic Or Aqua Blasting?

Discussion in 'Detailing and cleaning' started by ck_uk, Aug 13, 2019.

  1. I want to refurb my SS exhaust headers but not sure whether to just get them blasted, or use the Harpic/Autosol method? Would blasting achieve the same/better results?

  4. First two pictures show after Harpic but still not perfect, was thinking of buying polishing kit of eBay

  5. Harpic 10X - on offer at £1 a bottle in my Local Tesco today :):upyeah:

  6. A bit late to the party but I wanted a set of 996 pipes polished. I thought getting them blasted first would be a good idea. The polisher however tore a strip off me and to be fair, the blasting didn’t produce the affect I’d envisaged. Andy

  7. Camcoat want £235 plus VAT, that seems quite steep to be honest. Will check with Zirtech or just order polishing kit

  8. I ended up getting mine aquablasted, they are now decent but "silver" and it didn't remove all the pitting in tricky areas.

  9. I’m a little concerned by your decking, looks like it needs some loving;)

  10. Ssssssh. If the wife finds out I’ll be out there with my roller.

  11. I think you will be surprised at how well and quickly they come back to shiny shiny with some electrically powered polishing. Then if you use "blue off" and a little auto sol once in a while the problem is fixed.

  12. Sent my rsv4 pipes to camcoat....they lasted about a week before everything that stuck to them wouldnt come off....shit. The cerakote on my zed has just gone through its second winter...

  13. How much was the cerakote mate? If you don’t mind

  14. The zed from recollection was about 90 quid (4 in to 1 stainless arrow system)

  15. If you want to have a go yourself, Scottish brit on an orbital sander will remove that and leave a nice satin finish which you can then polish up if you want.

  17. Just the Scottish brite, Paul. No need for anything else unless you want to polish it further.

  18. Thanks. No, not long. It was a while ago now but maybe 3 or 4 hours all in.
