New Member After Buying Advice

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Felstmiester, Mar 31, 2020.

  1. Hi guys. New to the forum so thought I’d post here.
Background I’ve been heavily into bikes all my life. Raced motor cross from age of 7 up to adult, had many sports bikes but after a moto cross accident around 10 years ago I had to hang my crash helmet up for a while.
Cut a long story short. After having two hip replacements last year I’m on the mend. Still a shoulder replacement to go. But I can now swing my leg over a bike again.

Now to my question. I’m looking at buying a hypermotard. I’m looking at the 1100 but open to advice on what’s the best to go for. I’m looking at used ones. What’s the difference between say a 2010 plate to 2013? I’ve seen some 13 plates going for half decent money. What’s the noticeable differences between a 2010, 2013, 2019? When did the design change? Noticed maybe it changed between 12 and 13 plates? Servicing is not a major issue as I can do this myself. Insurance not a problem as I’m an old bugger pushing 50. Thanks in advance.

  2. Welcome Dave............................. and at pushing 50 you are a relative youth in these parts :)

  3. Welcome Steve Austin - never had one but plenty will be along with advice - the earlier 1100's are Air Cooled, the later ones Water Cooled and smaller capacity basically.

  4. Welcome and enjoy!

  7. Hi and welcome. I had an 1100S for a year, fantastic bike, personal preference but I think it was a better looking bike than the newer model. One of the few bikes I wish I'd never sold. P5028233.JPG P5028235.JPG
