Found this spare carbon fairing hanging around in my shed and decided to whack it on my track bike. I want to cover the headlight holes but can’t find anywhere that does preformed number boards. I had a go with some vinyl but made a big mess as I have no patience and the curvature is horrible. Any suggestions?
How about the stuff they use to make the air flow grills in the 748 monoposta seat ? Give you good air flow and I think it would look cool. Andy
I used fibreglass patches inside each headlight hole to give a back stop for some filler. Then filled both holes, sanded and painted a white number board on, not a 5 minute job mind you but considering the current circumstances ........
Came up with a potential idea from when I used to make models as a teenager... I have a fibreglass race fairing without headlight holes that I can use as a mould to form some thin High Impact Plasticard (HIP) sheet over. I looked on t’internet and found some tutorials for moulding this type of material by heating gently then draping over a mould (said g/f race fairing). Once I have the shape, I can trim the edges and then spray the “numberboard” and attach over the carbon fairing. As I am furloughed for April and May, I shall experiment with different thickness sheet to find the best type.
I have a couple of old plastic nose cones with out the headlight holes, from the inside you can see where they have been filled, are they any use to you ?
i wouldnt be going filling them with anything permanent..... i reckon @Android853sp idea is spot on...mesh grill ftw.
