All through the winter months I have been having free advanced motorcycle training every Saturday morning, my mate who is a police rider/trainer and blood biker has kindly taken me to start with and then my lad who has just passed his test out all foc, as a way of thanking him in December I cleaned his 2019 mt10 and applied acf50, up until now his bike remains uncleaned from December, so to combat the boredom i have offered to clean his bike for him, he is dropping it off in the morning, so if anyone is interested I will take photos as we go and see how the coating has stood up over the winter. I applied acf50 in a light coat using a spray gun and then a paint brush on the braking system bolts, fingers crossed it comes up well.
As I said previously, every Saturday over the winter in every condition, my bike faired very well, with zero rust or blemishes, but I did clean and reapply regularly, his on the other hand has not been touched.
I use ACF50 regularly and apply via spray gun. I've always though it was very good, even though I'm now a sunny day rider, I still coat regularly. Protects those out of the way bolts. It will be good to see the results.
good experiment Hertfordshire Highways dept were still using Salt a couple of nights ago. When I know it’s gone I’ll clean the ACF 50 off my beemer
Bike dropped off at 7am, started at 8.30, first off snow foam, ended up giving it 3 coverings as there was a lot of muck to shift, then a wash with the 2 bucket method and then a dry off with the blaster, going to be hard going to get it back to a decent condition.
Working my way from back to front, on the whole it has faired pretty well so far, the Akra was in a right state, it needed a light cutting paste to get it looking ok, being as it’s not my bike I don’t want to go to aggressive, a few blemishes here and there but only to parts that were not treated with acf50. Few disappointing parts on the front end that look worse for wear.
Wee job finished, approx 5 hours work, really needed to strip parts off the bike go gain access to some places, conclusion, on the whole it has stood up to winter pretty well, the untreated areas ie brakes and foot pegs are showing signs of salt damage, but by far the worse area is behind the front wheel in direct line with the majority of road spray, I would say this over a period of time washes away the acf50 so reapplying in these areas at least is needed periodically. Not to bad considering the bike has been ridden most days over winter.
