  1. Ohhh! Them's fighting words :p I'm with Fire3500. Matt gunmetal grey is rather lovely :)

  2. Not could have got a red one. SHOULD have...… It's a well known fact that it IS the faster colour - See :motorcycleduc: :innocent:

  3. Not so, my red one kept falling asleep while pulling away from junctions. Got rid and got a stealthy, speedy warhorse of a bike. Red one was a bit light on its loafers.

  4. "Operator error"

  5. Handsfree failure... ECU failure... loom failure...

  6. Only red bike I ever had was doomed. Never again! That was my XR. The first one flung engine oil all over me and my rear tyre 20 miles from new (badly sealed gasket). Agreed to have it repaired and it did it again 2000 miles later in the middle of Switzerland (leaked out of the spark plugs... How is that even possible?). That got replaced under warranty with a brand new, identically coloured XR. XR mark II got flattened by an uber driver pulled out of a dead end without indicating, hilst looking in the opposite direction to his direction of travel ans that was before the run-in service. Got it fixed and back in the road only to get stolen about 300 miles later. Couldn't make it up.

So... No more red bikes. Ever. :p

  9. :scream: Yes, but come on, who really wants to put two dustbins on such a beautiful Italian thoroughbred??
    No offence
And how come you've got a red frame then...……..:upyeah:

  10. Red and grey is a great combo. If you were a teenage boy in the 80’s you’d understand... And the big square box contains an Amstrad Midi HiFi.

  11. :grinning: they might be dustbins....but at least I can get more than a change of underwear in them...unlike the fragile oe items;)

  12. It is each to their own but I much prefer to travel as light as possible.

I used the panniers once on my Multi and they made filtering such an absolute pain I never bothered again and just took less with me.

  13. DAMN: You spotted the fatal flaw in my approach.....But as long as I can change my undies; everyone's a winner :eyes::poop:
    :beer::beer::beer:

  14. I think the key is to have the panniers narrower than the bars. Which is why I have the 37 litre jobs on mine. Bought it with the standard Ducati ones on but they were just too wide for me.

  15. :) I never have any problems when filtering with mine.
I've got the standard Ducati panniers, which are slightly narrower than the bars, so not an issue. With Barkbusters fitted as well, this makes the bike slightly wider still.
If I can get through with these, then job done.:upyeah:

  18. Well, the pannier racks have arrived! Planning to fit them tomorrow (had to clear my very busy social calendar first obvs...).

Got some SW Motech engine bars at the same time, but they're not arriving til next week.

Might not be able to ride at the moment but at least fitting this stuff will keep me out of mischief for a bit!

  20. Turns out... Yeah! Thought it would take around 45 mins. Ended up being about 2 hours. Bolt stuck in one of the footpegs had to be drilled out bcz the head had rounded off. The footpeg bolts were both too long, so had to be filed down. Badly fitting right hand side bracket took some manhandling to get it into the right hole (no euphemism intended), so not convinced that they're really quick release. Random bits left over (not from the enduro fitments). All a bit crazy! But looking good and I can, which a bit of acrobatics, get on and off the bike with the panniers on :D
