I had some fantastic service from Mark at MADASL today. He picked up my bike, made it his priority and managed to isolate and fix my problems in a day. and all for a brilliantly low price! I couldn't recommend him enough. If you are in need of servicing (giggedy) then give him a call.
The firing on one cylinder was caused by poor soldering by me when removing the alarm from the injector wire (brown and white, thick one). This was the cause of the intermittent 10.2 fault code. The coils were swapped over and the fault stayed on the horizontal cylinder so it defo wasn't the coils. I changed the plug at MR the other day so I knew it wasn't those. Mark completely stripped out the wiring behind the battery box and made a proper connection for the wire snipped by Datatool - so no more solder. Then he re-routed the loom to remove pinch points and stop parts touching the cylinder heads. This left an error code 34 - pick up sensor, which was confirmed by a jerky response on the rev counter. The connector for the pick up sensor was cleaned and repositioned which cleared that fault too. He then fitted all the carbon parts I had bought from Carbon-moto - none of which fitted well and all required re-drilling. I won't be using Carbon-moto on ebay again. All in all it wasn't an expensive fix but it did require some detailed fault finding and a full strip down of the bike and the experience of an aircraft engineer to solve for good rather than a bodge job by me. I was there all day and received some great advice about looking after my bike and how to improve my repairs in future. I also got plenty of brews
Pleasure was all mine and good fun. It took all day because we were disturbed by a wheel sale and tyre swap. Thanks for your help during the dayand for keeping coffee on the go (and supplying it) Roll on good weather so you can ride it more than the few miles road test, in the drizzle, to prove the systems fully. Tomorrow - Monser belts, shim check and oil change ...
Yes, I want to keep it. If it breaks down again I'll get it fixed. I don't think I'll get a bike I enjoy riding and looking at more for the money. I just want to be able to ride it and look at it Plus I like this place too much! ...Also the missus has put a stop to a new 848 so that's out the window.
Think you did that...what you need is one of those new reservoir socks Arb recommended on that other thread...then an 848 easy beer! lol
Fair one!! I'm thinking I'll just get down the vets and get myself neutered. I had my dog sorted last week and he's right as rain now!
This is just the sort of post we want to see on here! Well done Mark for sorting out Toms bike, and I hope if I'm ever down that way the welcome will be just as warm! Chris
