Outdoor Cooking Options

  1. I was introduced to the pleasures of outdoor cooking whilst working in Australia 40 years ago. In my time, I’ve spit roasted whole pigs, sheep and goat, I’ve cooked with a team catering for people in groups of 20 to 30 up to 150. To this day, I still get immense pleasure cooking over a fire pit or on a charcoal bbq, even if it is just for Carole and I.
Like many in this dire time, I have been spending too much time on the internet and my curiosity has been peaked by the variety of bbq alternatives on offer, even here in the UK.
I’ve made a decision to buy an Ooni Pro multi fuel outdoor oven but before I pull the plug after Easter, I thought I see what those that are into their outdoor cooking use. Andy

  4. Weber have been a market leader for many years, a friend used to cook his turkey at christmas in his. Intrigued you have a pizza stone for it, never thought to look at that. I haven’t got on with the Weber in the past, just like I don’t seem to be able to get the hang of the gas bbq. Food for thought :upyeah: Andy

  5. I was a charcoal snob for years until I saw the (calor gas) light.
BBQ on gas is so quick and easy we use it all the time from March to October. So little mess, quick, convenient and controllable. I can’t taste the difference. Have an Outback job but have had others in past. Rate Webber.

  7. I intend at some time to make this. In the meantime I made mine using plant pots. Insulated with stuff they fill boilers with

  9. Without wanting to take the thread in a new direction, what weber bbqs are people using as some are astronomical price wise, and some not so bad. I mean for very occasional use are the cheaper webers still worth it?

  11. I've got a cheapy B&Q gas jobby that we use sometimes .

Have also got a Cobb outdoor cooker, it uses a single brickette thing to cook on and it's stainless steel but you can pick it up and move it . It always cooks great . We've had it about 5 years and it's still as good as new .
    Highly recommended

  12. I've got a Char Broil infra red BBQ grill, though I find it makes more difference how much attention you pay than what you cook on. That said, I do want a pellet fed grill at some point - can't beat cooking on wood.
