Good Afternoon Gents Has anyone carried out the repair to the multistrader 1200 s ohlins forks.? There is a well documented issue with the forks where they make a knocking noise on the rebound stroke . The fix for this is to fit a 0.2mm shim into the electronic fork adjuster the part number is 71319891A. carrying out this work is no problem i have all the tools etc however the info and drawwings i can find do not state weather I need to fit the shim into the left fork or right fork only or if i need to fit a shim into both fork legs. can anyone clarify?
Thank you sir. So it could be the 0.2 or might even need a 0.3 haha Anyone have the part number for the 0.3mm shim.?
Over the years, I’ve found it rarely works that well. Out of maybe a dozen forks I’ve looked at, maybe one set actually stopped. Ohlins never classed it as a functional issue, so the remedy was a bit hit or miss. If you go too thick on the shim size, either a tenth of a mm, the preload locks out when it’s put back together. I’m referring to the shim solution offered to the service network. I know of forks that have been serviced and rebuilt, have faired much better but that’s more costly than a couple of shims....
Yeah I’ve rebuilt the forks and fitted the shin to the top adjusters . noise is still there and now it’s throwing up an error code DES - FRONT REBOUND anyone know what that is and how to reset it ?
Ok so this is turning into a nightmare I’ve stripped the rebound fork cap off again and this time the rebound rod adjuster came out with it and I can’t seem to get it screwed back into the adjuster when I last stripped in the damper rod just popped out and the little yellow piece stayed in place but it appears to have screwed out now and I can’t get it screwed back in? Any advice on this please
It’s as if I somehow need to get the motor to turn the other way so that it winds the adjuster back in
