I’ve had dealings with moto corsa, my mate bought his 899 there a few months back and I was talking with them about an MV. Nice fish finger sarny in the cafe! I’d get a Mutkistrada though, it’s not really close in terms of sheer performance and usability.
Hmmm, Yes. I think that I am getting ahead of myself. When I am in a position to buy (and not just talk about it) I will probably have a look at what's about. Back to square one! Could be a Guzzi or 950 Multistrada.... I don't NEED a bike as I've got two. In my mind, this is my reward (as is the Poland trip) for all the shi... that I've been through and still am. This is weird. This week, I was massaged whilst lying on my bed by my female physio. She had taken my tracky bottoms off! I don't dare try anything on with her because she knows my weak points! One jab with her finger could send me into unbelievable pain.... This is just weird............
Confusion: In making up my mind between a Multistrada and a Guzzi I looked on Riders web site to try and get he price of a new 950 Multistrada. Ducati like to keep it on a classified level. Anyway, on this site there is this: So, if you are a Harley rider, you think that you need to pay extra for Harley branded brake fluid. Presumably, they think that Harley riders are too thick to go to the nearest Halfords or Auto store. Maybe they think that the fluid knows that is is only Harley suitable... How do you sell this stuff and keep a straight face?
Went to Riders today and looked at a 950 Multistrada. Very nice but about £2k more than a Guzzi and that is before adding luggage Still not sure...
I hear very mixed reviews of MotoCorsa. I bought my Brutale 800 from them and had no problems dealing with them when their whole outfit was in Ashmore near Shaftsbury (their service dept is still there) but then when I got my Stradale from elsewhere and took it to them for a reoccurring throttle fault still under MV warranty, by which time they had opened Mirus 55 and moved their sales over to Gillingham, they became difficult to deal with, fobbing me off with excuses and ignoring the mechanics suggestion on what was needed to fix the issue, lost faith in them and the bike and moved it on, Shame, it was a great bike. Get the feeling they have got lost in their own self importance since expanding and are only interested in selling very expensive MV’s and Brough’s to people who prefer to look at them rather that use them? Top Cafe though by all accounts.
So, pretty sure it will be the V85 TT Travel but was browsing around and saw the Multistrada Pikes Peak. The Guzzi is about 12k and the Ducati 22k! The Guzzi comes with panniers and other bits. Instant touring. It is shaft drive a well. I am missing something because I can't justify spending about 22 grand when I can get a cool looking bike that will do everything that I want for 12 grand. I must be missing something here. Can anyone help me to see what I am missing?
Contrary to Ackers review of MotoCorsa; I found them to be a good dealer. Bought my MV elsewhere but that dealership went out of business. They took over my servicing and warranty work over the 18,000 miles and two and a half years of ownership. Granted there was no good will after the 2 year warranty, more down to the factory than them though I guess. Pleasant enough to deal with, no complaints about their work and usually an interesting loan bike whilst mine was being worked on. Usually a ride including a visit to the showroom and something to eat at their café.
The Guzzi will do everything you need, the Multi all of that and more. You`ll enjoy the Guzzi at any speed and revel in the mechanical feeling of it . A Duke will always be talking to you like the Suits You characters from the Fast Show. Ooh Sir, just a little faster Sir, go on Sir, clip the apex Sir . Both lovely IMO and I hope you`d be pleased with either. I`d take the Guzzi , save £10k and plan to take a little longer completing any long trip.
I was recently in the same situation. I am a Guzzi Club rep and have had a few, but love Ducatis too. I had a Triumph Tiger 800 for 5 years for my do it all ride and touring duties, but wanted something different. I test rode the 950 4 times and still couldn't make my mind up. I wanted to like it but would get back on the Triumph and think, why am I getting rid of this? The Guzzi dealer was miles away and I didn't get around to testing the V85. Then I rode a 2017 1200 DVT multi at a local dealer and was blown away. I bought it on the spot. I have heard good reports about the V85 and the owners love them. Shaft drive too, so less messing about with chains. I would have a good ride on them both as they will have very different characteristics.
Whilst the Multistrada may be better, that 10 grand could be a massive saving and fund lots of foreign travel. I will ask for a test ride on the Guzzi because I haven't rode a Guzzi for 30 years. I don't doubt that the 22k Multistrada is better but if the Guzzi does everything that I want, then 10k would buy an awful lot of touring!
Very true, But I was looking at second hand one at the time, as I had a limited budget My Multi was the same price as a 950 of the same vintage, less than 10,000 miles and £9k. The Guzzi was out of reach at the time. They look fab though and I will get a test ride at some point. Everyone I know that has ridden one loved it. I had a 1200 Stelvio and it was a great bike but a bit heavy. The V85 looks a lot lighter. I hope you get your licence sorted and get a ride on one as soon as we are let off the leash. Let us know how you get on.
