Hi All, today when shifting from 3rd to 4th my lever had not much resistance. i had to rev match to get it into gears. pulling the clutch in doesn't disengage the clutch. All the cable is ok ive traced it down with no problems. if i put the bike into 1st & manually push the lever that comes off the clutch casing i still cant roll the bike! there is some resistance on the lever on casing but i would imagine i shouldn't be able to push it with one finger??? any help much appreciated Paul
You definitely shouldn't be able to operate the clutch actuator lever with all your effort, never mind one finger . Clutch housing casing off to investigate, I think.
It could be anything in there Paul. You've discounted everything up to the clutch actuator on the engine, so you have to dig deeper imo.
Something has broken or come drift internally. The clutch lever has an internal return spring (17 in the 1st pic) which is probably the resistance you feel. The lever spindle should engage with the clutch control pin ( 5 in the 2nd pic), basically a pull rod, that lifts the pressure plate to release the clutch. I think the cover will have to come off to see what's happened in there. I suspect the somehow the flat on the end of the lever shaft has disconnected itself from the pull rod,
I hope its easy fix really as the warranty has just ran out at the end of march. or will this be good will maybe?? surely should last longer....only done 3500 miles.
Get it back to the dealer china or at least on the dog and bone to report the issue sharpish before you have a butcher’s. Don’t whatever you do whip the casing off if you are hoping for a goodwill warranty claim. If you end up having to take it in and they spot (or you mention) it being apart and something is seriously amiss, they will wriggle like fish on a line to avoid shelling out! (My keyboard was stuck in Cockney for the first part of this response.)
Agree with both. Your warranty has just ran out and you can reference the current lockdown to help you in your goodwill cause. If you start to poke about yourself, you'll get nothing in all likelihood.
My Hyper exactly the same re age/warranty - I'll be keen to know what went wrong! Bit of a thread divert... why is the 939 clutch actuation method/mechanism different to all (to my limited knowledge) the other engines? Just to be different?
what yours has done the same? was it fixed under warranty? i dont know why most other models have hydraulic clutch?
Sorry, no, I meant exactly the same age and mileage with warranty expired end of March. No clutch issues for me - just very interested to see if I've got whatever your problem is to look forward to...
are they a wet clutch? not that i can offer any advice, just interested. and wet clutches tend to be cable dont they?
I reckon it's still worth contacting your dealer, especially if you bought it from them. Also contact Ducati. If something breaks at 3500 miles it's designed badly or assembled badly! You didn't buy this bike to take the engine covers off did you...?
ive spoken to Simon @ Ducati Stoke seems really happy to help and nice chap. also said bike was originally sold by them.
