I am turning into a right grumpy git, I think......or The World is going mad..... I get peed off with the moron on Classic FM on Sunday going on about having a relaxing morning because you would be up early to get the train on Monday... and now today, there is an article in The Times: What they don't headline (but let slip below) is that diesel cars to more than both electric and petrol.... But that is just not "aexy" non-news....
Stop reading the Times or watching BBC News and normal non-grumpy status will result, I am a good example of those actions.
My company tried hybrids ... and they were a complete failure. If hybrids break down..and they do often, no-one will touch them except the manufacturers agents. The RAC or AA do not want to know and will not even attempt to fix them, the best you can hope for is a tow to a service area to wait for a main dealer collection. We'd tried VW and Audi's ... so not cheap cars that you might expect to be pants. After the trials, we replaced our fleet with turbo diesels again and I will bet in another 18 months it'll be diesels again - and after that. I have a 1.5 diesel that will do around 125mph (not tried beyond that) easily, return 55mpg and 600/650 miles to a tank (about a weeks commute for me). If you did not know, you would think it was a 2 litre. Modern diesels are astonishingly good now. Who would want a hybrid unless they never leave the town they live in ? I dont do the BBC or the Times and I am still a grumpy bastard BTW
