Today I've Been Making Infused Gin

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Robarano, Apr 29, 2020.

  1. During a curry making session last night where one of the ingredients was Star Anise (Aniseed), I had a brain wave about making some Aniseed Gin.

So after a little research today, I've tried making my 1st batch. There is a little bit of a difference of opinion on how many ingredients to add to your gin, but as I can always add more, I've gone easy to start with and will see how it tastes after a few days. :yum

    So I used
    • 1 x Kilner jar
    • 1 x Bottle of London Dry Gin (Aldi Special :innocent:)
    • 6 x Star Anise
    • 1 x Piece of Casia bark (Cinnamon)

  3. Even if you were in the same room. If I succesfully make Aniseed Gin, I wouldn't share it. :yum

  4. Does it make it more alcoholic?

  8. nice idea, keep us posted

  9. If I'm capable. :yum

  10. You need to make it stronger then figure out how to make it taste ok.

  11. If my missus tried to make that, it would wind up as Confused Gin...

  12. Someone I know......makes there own gin! Fairly simple process but the bit that frightens the life out of me was when he said, the first bit of the proceeds has to be syphoned off as it’s that that’ll make you go blind. I’ve still got the bottle he gave me last year :)

  13. There's a lot of sloe gin made around here, add sugar and sloes to gin, leave it for a year, can be too much if you overload the sugar, very pleasant on a winters day though.

  14. A year! In this house? o_O

I had a look and sniff this morning (Oooo, errr missus) It's giving off a slight hint of Aniseed and has a very slight brown tinge. :yum

  15. Keep applying the ointment!

In a weeks time it will be better, or have dropped off.
