Passport For Eire

  1. Required for UK Citizens?

Mine expires this year but I have a vague recollection that they are not required. For instance, I think that there are no border points between Northern Ireland and the Republic. Correct?

  2. Depending on mode of transport photo ID required, ie driving license. Passport not
Obligatory on ferry not sure about flying.

  3. Having said that: I once did a contract for the University of Stirling and so I would fly from Bristol to Glasgow every week. I was still asked to show a passport at both airports. When I remarked that I was unaware that a passport was required to visit Scotland, I just got blank looks back.

  4. Not interested in flying, just taking a bike. Probably on the ferry between Wales and Rosslare.

  5. Both driving licence AND passport run out this year. I suppose that I should get my sh1t together!

  7. I DO have a photo id train pass but I'll get my driving licence and passport renewed - which I should do, anyway. Since my plan is ro get a new bike as soon as I get an insurance payout, then I can't do that without a valid driving licence. And then there are a few UK trips for which I'll definitely need to get my driving licence sorted.

  8. No. I need to get my eye appointment re-scheduled to see if they still think that me eyesight is damaged. All hospital appointments that were non-urgent were cancelled. I thought that it was urgent but nobody agreed with me......:confounded:

  9. Ths NHS is beginning to open up again, so fingers crossed you will be seen soon.

  10. As above, if you are travelling by ferry all you need is your ticket, if however you are flying you need your passport and ticket, obvs.
This is down to our two islands ‘special’ history that we share.

  11. I've been to Ireland many times (by sea) and I can't remember needing passports. And you can take your dog! A special relationship derived from the Irish hating us for stealing part of their country, seems to bear fruit!

I've flown to Scotland many times and always needed a passport! You can fly to Newcastle from Bristol. We can't understand each other and so, I expect, you still need a passport! We can't 'steal' the North-East ss it is already part of England.

    Complicated this!
