1200 DVT Multistrada Dvt Translogic Install??

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by DRR117, May 9, 2020.

  1. Any installed one of these IS2-ECU quickshifter units? Instructions makes very little sense. I’m sure there’s an easy way to install it. I’ve got the shifter arm installed, now just need to work out where to plug the wires

  2. I believe @kartman had one of these on his DVT...

  3. Spoke to @kartman with no luck I’m afraid.

And seen that thread, helped me figure out how to install the linkage bit now need to work out what I’m suppose to plug the connector into as the instructions are generic

  4. I’m guessing the shifter logic would be cutting the ignition to unload the gearbox to allow shifting, you would need to locate the coil pack wiring. If your shifter kit is specific to the Multistrada then it should just be a case of unplugging the coil pack wiring and plugging in your shifter wiring loom inline if that makes sense. Maybe the online parts books could point you to the right plugs?

  5. Looks like the ignition coil packs are on the right hand side of the bike behind the side cover bodywork.

  6. Definitely the right kit, supplied by moto rapido. Usually the devices have 2 connectors to plug into the coils. However this unit only has one so I can only presume there is a unit controlling the ignition coils and this plugs into that. But there’s no information and the instructions are generic stuff they throw in ever box unfortunately. Just wanted to know if anyone had successfully installed one themselves, and if so where does this connector go

  7. As I said and looking at the length of those cables the coils are on the right side of the bike. I would say looking in that area may be where they need to go.

  8. Yeah I’ve checked there but can’t seem to find anything BF to intercept with the wiring. The. Cables struggle to get to the right side of the bike which suggests they attach to something over the left side. I’ll keep poking around, getting me well acquainted with the multi anyway :joy:

  9. It could be that they connect near the ECU which is under the tank!! I hope not! Good luck bud!

  10. That’s the only thing left. Been putting that off.

  11. Are you fitting rearsets as well?

  12. So... getting somewhere but hit another hurdle. The suggestion is the wiring connects to the fuel injection wiring. However, the OEM connectors don’t fit the translogic connectors :triumph:

So it’s either for a different bike or I’m missing another 3 wire fuel injector wire and it’s not this one with INJ written on it on the left side of the airbox.

    it’s no longer fun anymore

  13. The coils don’t use that type of connector. There’s nothing I can think of under the tank that would either. I’ve not fitted one to a DVT so can’t help with the specifics, but.....
The only thing I can think of is the side stand switch? The AMP connectors are getting used less and less now, and that’s one of the few 3pole ones I can think of that would give an ignition cut...

  14. Cheers Nelly I’ll have a look at that. Thanks :upyeah:

  15. @nelly I owe you a pint! :):):):) You were right, It connects to the side stand switch, not the fuel injector as the instructions suggest. Tested and works perfectly. Now to put the damn thing back together.

thanks for everyone’s input. We got there in the end.

  17. Took it for a test. Failed. Not one quick shift. Worked on the rear stand in the garden.

I’ll ring moto rapido on Monday as it looks like they sold it originally from the label and ask them.

  18. Trans will clutchless shift easily if the rear wheel is off the ground without QS, so it may have not been working then either.

  19. Yeah I tested it without the shifter when I got back from the test. My mistake, thought it was the shifter working but yeah the bike will clutchless shift with the wheel off the ground.

  20. I had a a Healtech on my first DVT and it was crap. The 1200 DVT gearbox seems a bad match for a QS. The lever throw is quite long and it wasn’t pleasant. Also threw neutrals shifting 5/6 continually and 1/2 was a no-no.
