  1. I think it's more a fashion thing, the same people who wear lederhosen, think other Germans wearing chaps and leather tassles whilst riding loud harleys, look silly.

  2. Great idea!
Should enforce it here for bikes and cars....:upyeah:

  3. Vague and woolly report on Visordown. Shock horror panic.

"Federal states"? So is this a federal law, applying to the whole Federal Republic of Germany, or is it a matter for the states ("Lander").
"To be voted on"? So it hasn't been voted on yet.
    Will it actually become law?
    Will it be enforced?
Or is it just a pie-in-the-sky notion somebody is touting, and which may never happen?
Visordown has no idea. So nor do we.

  4. Germany is a strange place. They have the Nurburgring, that is about as mad as you can get! The old track was thought too dangerous for F1 racing and so they opened it up to the public!

But the Germans do follow rules quite obediently!

Great place but I could never work it out.....

  5. They do like to obey orders. o_O

  6. That reminds me of another German thing. They have the autobahns with no speed limit. I was following a mate once and everything was overtaking us. I got p155ed off with him for going so slow. I then looked at my speedo. We were doing a steady 100mph!

And yet, unlike here, before the Police got mobile speed camera happy, if there was a 80kph limit because of woad works, everybody religiously obeyed. Unlike here, where 50 mph limits due to roadworks, were universally ignored.

  7. It’s still like that as soon as the speed limit signs appear everyone slows down including past services and it’s very regular to see police parked up ready to pounce on the very few who I have seen abuse the signs, it’s funny seeing the speed they go on the unlimited sections on autobahn no wonder Schumacher was good.

  8. nail on the head. They are super strict. Importing vehicles is very difficult if they have been modified. A mate of mine who lives there isn’t even bothering to try with his “996”

  9. I have experienced that too. On a business trip in 1999 to Germany the firm sent the Mercedes S500 to pick me up at the airport. So am sitting in the back wondering what speed we were doing as we drifted by a Mk2 Golf. So had a looked, converted to mph and we were doing 120mph. The Golf must have been doing 100. A couple of times we hit 140mph.

they are also very strict on lane discipline.

I also noticed most of the WPCs were well worth cuffing

  10. Here in Atlanta on the highway 15 over is common 20 at the right time.
10 over on the smaller roads.
We have no noise laws for bikes.

  11. when I watch gas monkey garage I wonder if the USA has any laws at all. Then i remember the most sinister experience of my life which occurred in Philadelphia and it all comes back to me.

  12. It was always open to the public, when it wasn't booked for racing or testing.
