Hi, I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction! Finally brought my 899 out of hibernation and low and behold within a few minutes of running I have the engine management light on . Plugged in to JPDiag and the DTC is showing as 0130 O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1). So my obvious question is, which is Bank 1? I'm hoping it's the front cylinder (as I think this is easier to access than the rear sensor (subframe lift job). If anyone could confirm that would be a real help! Cheers Mike
So, I'm gonna jump right in before anyone who's got a clue does! DTC (Ducati Traction Control) is probably unhappy that front wheel and rear wheel are turning different speeds, or similar. Did you try giving F & R wheel sensors a clean with a brush? OK, will step aside now and make room for an expart!
I believe the horizontal cylinder is designated as #1 (or "A") and the vertical is designated as #2 (or "B") when deciphering diagnostic codes.
Yep it was the horizontal (front) cylinder's O2 sensor, ordered one up from Moto Rapido at 4:15 on Thursday and got it 10AM Friday (brilliant service as always), 20 minute swap out and no EML anymore. Just glad it wasn't the rear cylinder!! Happy bunny, back out on the road Thanks to all for the input guys
I think you would be better off getting the codes scanned first, if you have the ability to do so using JPDiag and the appropiate USB / Ducati cables. Anything else is just guess work IMO.
Unfortunately i dont, thanks anyway. Weird thing is it was and is running fine, i'm wondering if there is some dust on a sensor of some description as i have a very dusty/dog hairy house where i'm keeping it atm (havent bought a cover yet either). Seems weird that it just came on as soon as i took it out of the house.
Well, you can certainly give it a go if you dont have access to JPDiag. The front wheel sensor is behind the front mud guard on the left hand side of the bike as you sit on it. The rear sensor is on the right hand side of the bike, just under the brake caliper. You will notice a circular disk with notches in ,I beleive those are the sensors V4Missile refered too. Good luck
If it’s running ok then warm it up and ride it for a couple of miles and then see if the light goes off.
My thoughts too and I obviously won’t hold you to your advice I’ve no reason to think it’s running badly it’s just an electrical gremlin. Will make sure my old man’s following me in the car mind.
So it seems its one of the map sesnors (never knew there were two) and once one goes; "it'll be about five minutes before the other one goes" - Steve at Ducati Cambridge Two on order at a meagre £375 including fitting. God ive missed getting my pants pulled down by dealers lol
+£120 for a van to get it to the dealers Fuck it, it’s done now thought, at least I know what it was and it wasn’t serious.
The van firm are great though anyvan.com Used them twice now and an excellent service if anyone needs one.
I bought a map sensor as a spare for £30. Theyre located in the black plastic thingy either side where panels fit. Where lots of elec gubbins are. Prob fit in 20mins inc putting panels back on.
Is that supposed to make me feel better? Tbf 2x£95 plus an hours service costs as they don’t do it in 20 minute segments plus vat is best part of what I was quoted. Ducati prices “innit”. It is what it is, I have two weeks off work and I’m not going to let it annoy me
Sorry Red, but I always look for parts like these sourced without Ducati Tax. In your case £65/map sensor.
I’ll stick the invoice up when I collect it Saturday afternoon and we can all have a good old laugh at me
