  2. I just checked. It has an auto unfollow feature for anyone you block.

  4. I strongly disagree with this. Much as I thoroughly dislike a (very) few people on here, blocking them and vice versa can make many of the posts in threads where they have been active utterly unintelligible. It may even eventually result in two separate but parallel forums operating as echo chambers.

I think the solution to the aggro problem is not to hide from people you don't like/agree with, but instead is simply to "grow some" and/or for the mods to take action when boundaries are transgressed.

  5. I think the problem is that the people who wind each other up are often be found in the same thread. I just don’t think this is the solution

  6. Or do what I wish more people would - agree to disagree...;)

  7. On reflection I agree that this is no real solution. Any block or ignore function is only going to leave disjointed threads that make no sense on reading.

Personally I’d like to see stronger moderation but having done this job myself on another forum where some of the mods went a bit OTT with zero tolerance on any speakers-corner-like discussion at all, I do appreciate how much work this can be.

I think I’ll just stay largely disengaged for now. TBH apart from contacting folk to arrange the odd road-trip there is little on this forum that interests me these days.

  9. I think everyone is angelic it’s never their fault it’s everyone one else’s fault!
Some of these comments do make me laugh in how people are portraying themselves as angels and passing the blame on to others.. which is probably the root cause of how threads end up the way they do.

  10. its not changed nothing for me. i already had the same folks on ignore that have now adopted the block function. i also know one of them takes the block function down for a wee nosey then puts it back up again. :D.

  11. I must say that this is exactly how I feel about the whole blocking thing.

Each to their own and all that, but life doesn't have an ignore or block button. I would like to think as adults people can moderate and temper their own responses or feelings whenever someone else winds them up or simply has a different view.

I must admit it's been less fun since @chizel secretly put me on ignore.....the bastard

  12. Yes, also some discussions (especially the lounge and speakers corner) will be rather dull if everyone just agrees.

Totally agree it's each to their own, also interesting to hear other peoples opinions on everything.

I wouldn't put a negative comment on a bike thread, but if someone puts up a dodgy looking graph, well - that's fair game.

  13. Dodgy graphs are definitely fair game, we've moved on from that now to accurate pie charts though Al, let it go man....let it go.

Ps - I've not idea who the 3% are but I'd bet money on them being users of the ignore function ;)

  18. In real life I tolerate no one I don't like and that includes work , I don't expect people to do as I say so I step back that way no stress and I happy to let people off ! !! Some people are better off not conversing so if I don't want to listen to 2 bellends argue I put the thread or the culprits on ignore ! Choice is a great thing !

  19. Yeah I guess so, and as I've said it really is whatever works for the individual.

I suppose I'd be lying if I said I hadn't spent loads of time on social media muting or ignoring accounts for 30 days at a time. But a lot of them don't ride motorbikes so what would they expect :eyes:

  20. Just how i feel and the way I will use the forum in the future.
