V2 V2

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by LOCKE, Dec 1, 2019.

  1. The bike was at 590 (with a 35 mile trip to the dealer takes it 5miles over the service interval) and was booked in for the first Saturday of the lockdown.
My dealer currently isn't open yet - so I guess they can't really say a lot. 100 miles or so in 6 weeks is not very much - I think it would reflect very poorly on Ducati if they voided the warranty due to the Kung Flu

  2. Thinking of swapping a 1299 for a V2

Anyone know if the following items swap over?

    Ducati Race Seat
    OHLINS Shock
    Akrapovic end cans
    Carbon from Mudguard

I ve got an ohlins steering damper and CNV rearsets and pretty sure they should be a straight swap. Its just the above items I'm not clear on.

  4. I would say:

Ducati Race Seat - definitely not, the seat doesn't bolt at the front like on the 899/1299, it's got two bolts either side at the rear.
OHLINS Shock - Yes, as the replacement items are listed or both, and the V2 is a 1299 swingarm, however the link isn't adjustable in the V2, so consider this if you do loads of track stuff, again you can probably fit the whole linkage.
Akrapovic end cans - the V2 uses the 959 front pipes, that were 60mm from memory to match the 1299 so yes I would think so.
Carbon from Mudguard - not sure about this, if you have a base 1299 it's marzochi forks, which have massive legs, not where as all the V4 ones would fit the V2 because the V4 uses the same Showa forks.

  5. My bike is being picked up by MotoRapido on Tuesday to service it and investigate the issues with what I think is a botched BikeTrac install, I'm glad, they are a pleasure to speak to on the phone and have always given me great confidence in their problem tracing ability so I hope they will sort it. Then if I need to pay MR to refit the tracker I'll have to try and claim it back from the original dealer.

I tried to contact them and give them the opportunity to fix the issues and do a service, but the dealer principle who told me to email him directly hasn't responded despite them being open a few weeks at least (as they were one of the first to open on reduced operations) so we will see. At the end of the day, 99% of the time it's perfect, but washing it is a lottery as if it gets wet the indicators loose the plot and then I get false biketrac alerts.

Onto the positives, my god this bike is incredible. I've probably said it when I got my 899 years back and it was true then, add to that even better lights, and premium features like the dash, and the SSSA an it really is lovely. Plus the power delivery is just superb, I'm so enjoying it but it's laughing at me in the corners, even on the road I'm still learning just how fast it steers.

  6. Thanks everyone who helped. Cheers lads

  8. Does the bike run much cooler? I’m definitely noticing how hot it runs

  9. It was 27c today, through towns it was showing 103c. Not much difference. That's with full system.

  10. Another 70miles today, didn't have too long to go out, but I did manage to back to back with my mates 899 and the V2 really does run super hot, no doubt about it, in traffic his 899 was running at 87 degrees and mine was over 100, and it was really unpleasant I have to say. I may look seriously to get my rear header ceramic coated.

  11. wow - that's a huge difference, I'm surprised
I wonder does the extra heat help with achieving emissions somehow....

  12. Leaner running at idle = more oxygen which burns hotter

  13. My V2 is arriving this week - so excited - first Ducati for me! Stepping up from a 600cc Honda.
I saw few videos in the states showing the spacer kit making quite a decent difference just like on the 959 - has anyone here tried the throttle spacer yet or feel the V2 needs it?

  14. yeah I’ve got the spacers on mine, made a good difference

  15. Ok cool! ill add it to the shopping bag :joy: - thanks!

Do you know a good place to get them from?

  16. I bought mine direct from Ducati spacers in the states, shipping was quick and no issues

  17. So how many miles have you done so far? I picked mine up in early April i think and have done 700km/434 miles so far.
An absolutely insane machine this and yet is relatively comfortable.

  18. I'm up to 1K miles now, bikes riding great now that I've sorted out the bike trac issue that was totally dealer caused. The heat is the only thing bothering me really as mentioned elsewhere, hoping to go out on Wednesday with lower ambient and see if it's just that it was particularly bad on the day I was out last due to the high temperatures.

  19. To be honest I went out yesterday evening and it’s the same. Riding along with knees out. Lol
What was the the problem with bike trac?

  20. The dealer melted through the shielding for the earth on the main loom when fitting it and then bodged it, meaning when any water got in there it shorted the bike wiring out.
