Timing Belts

  1. I have a set of genuine belts for my 996sps but they have been sitting on the shelf for 5 years. It it ok to use belts that have not been used but 5 years old? cheers

  2. I would say 'yes' but there is someone hear who knows better!

  3. Stored cool dry and out of the light they will be fine - stored any other way and it could be risky.

I did see a Ducati Dealer selling older belts than that on Ebay with old part numbers - poor stock rotation I guess, thankfully they are no longer a dealer.
If someone say yes they will be fine, what if they aren't o_O

  4. Funnily enough I was only asked yesterday by someone who found a set of our TB1100 belts in his living room that he bought in 2011 - they had started to turn white still in the packaging so obviously had been in the daylight! He was asking if he could use them and therefore put them back into storage! I told him to cut them up and throw them out, hope he doesn't boot polish them and sell them

  5. thanks for info. they have been stored in cabinet with all my other bits. no light ,dry and cool so should be ok. cheers
