Ducati S4 Monster Cps Air Gap Check

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Astrauk, Jun 21, 2020.

  1. Hi All, just a quick post to seek advice regarding checking the air gap on the CPS sensor.
How can this be done ? as there is no inspection access to check this setting o_O.
I am going to remove the alternator/water pump cover to push out the sensor as it won’t come out from the outside plus I can get the cover shot blasted and painted. But I can see no way of checking this gap .
This is all part of my ongoing issues with the bike not starting, see Monster S4 Not Starting post o_Oo_O
    Thoughts/comments greatly received.

  2. There is an access plug at the front of the crankcase. Item 29.
Clearance is 0.7mm with the engine at the timing position. (TDC on horiz cylinder, all valves closed)

  3. Hi Derek, many thanks for your reply and I’ll take a look at my bike later :upyeah::) I had looked all through my downloaded workshop manual but there was no reference to this adjustment :worried:

  4. Hi Derek, Mmmmm not the easiest of inspection plugs to gain access to on the 916 engine o_Oo_O Good job that I am removing the alternator/water pump cover for refurbishment and to replace the hopefully faulty CPS sensor and finally put my starting issues behind me :upyeah: 11329936-5320-4E98-BFAC-A7186C81578B.jpeg 9902AD74-793A-4988-82A9-62B8B5D2A3D3.jpeg
