Firstly, you have my condolences I'm sure most will be aware but some may not. TFL has extended the London congestion charge in price, area and hours and it starts tomorrow, not wanting any members to be caught out by the changes and then fines, I popped this post in. So if you live in London or travel through London after midnight tonight, be sure of their changes
Crazy news, comes at a time when people are afraid of using public transport. In other news my dentist has just upped his charges, the bastard.
He’s got his exotic car fund to top up, 10 weeks of no earning puts a huge dent in finances I imagine. 2 weeks for me was bad enough and I charge chicken feed compared to dentist’s.
Thanks, going to CE London tomorrow morning. Everything is going up...I am going to Tesco's every Saturday, an average weekly shopping used to be around £120-140, now very rarely under £150(mostly £160 ish) I very much doubt my belly got bigger, maybe is time to get the kids and dogs on bread& water only diet.
I went there the other day myself and they informed me on the dog & bone it would be £50 just to say Hi & By,plus a £200 surcharge on top of any work carried out in the near future.
looks like they are dragging their heels on the visual map side - if you try and enlarge above map it says they are working on it, and access given tomorrow. I didn't realise, but it does simplify stuff (for me anyway) as it uses the "North and South Circular" as the boundary line, which is the A205 for South and A406 for North.
I don't believe the area where the charge applies has been increased? New charges for a car are £15 a day, it was £11.50 It operates 7 days a week including bank holidays, but not Christmas to New Years day. The hours have increased from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday to 7am to 10pm, 7 days a week. They are stopping applications for the 75% household discount scheme from 1st August. Certain persons are exempt from this charge....
Its a bit naughty as the main TFL site is still quoting the old charges and times. Here's a link to the map. Use the + / - to change the size. https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge/congestion-charge-zone
From what er indoors tells me the offers like 3for2 don’t seem as prevalent as pre C-19, plus if you’re at home with kids the daily intake direct from home is up as they ain’t eating school dinners. Once you go back to wearing normal clothing let us know on the belly front, elasticated Tracky bottoms lie bud.
So glad I left the SE and London back in 2004. Love it there, great city with many find memories, and do return every now and again but usually by train, tube and bus.
For people living in Central, like myself, I’m fucking glad about the congestion zone times and cost going up as I live here for 6 months of the year, I don’t have to pay it as a resident but the pricks who come in over the weekend and literally block the whole road for 48 hours can die of dick cancer. Because it’s a complete piss take. Once I came out to find someone blocking my garage and I couldn’t leave for half a day. I’ve lost count on telling people to move their car like people don’t live in actual London and don’t use garages. Even with traffic wardens working until 11pm, doesn’t stop people. So use a normal NCP car park at £10m an hour or steal a local permit holders space because that doesn’t make you a horrendous barrel of fuck. And breathe....
Slightly off topic but has anyone else heard of our glorious mayor's plan to limit certain central routes to buses, bicycles and pedestrians only? I'm sure I saw something on MCN a few weeks ago and it's all gone quiet since. From memory, the proposals were limited to the city of London (broadly speaking) but would apply as far north as Shoreditch. I think it was a proposed combo of full restrictions to anythjng other than buses, pedestrians and bike in some places, and in others it's more about sequestering a road lane for pedestrians and bicycles. Either way, it's going to make motorcycling in Central London much, much worse if it does actually happen.
You should try doing a building type trade there ... I'm not sure how they expect to get things done or delivered
I used to see customers in London very frequently, full time all day , then it was all on company expenses. Moving forward if I become self employed to do a similar thing I can easily spend £40 on parking and £15 on CC a day out of my own money FFS!
What do you think about those whith second homes and tourists who visit the South West with their cars?
