Ducati 848 Error Code Can 38.0

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by 2dads, Feb 22, 2018.

  1. Hi guys, i have been looking at other threads relating to the errror code: CAN 38.0 but I can’t seem to find any that have been resolved.

    So the problem is this...
I went to strike her up today, after a bit of a splutter she cut out with the warning triangle with the ! Mark on. (The one next to the indicator)
And no green neutral light on.

So far i have tried the following:
    •checked fuses
    •cleaned all the wiring connections
    •swore (a lot)
•disconnected the battery for half hour hoping it would reset itself

    And still nothing.
I hear it could be the dash or the ecu? (I have a race ecu fitted if that matters?)

Has anyone else know of this? Had this happen to them?
Or does anyone know what the cure is?

    Thanks in advance

  2. Try fitting a new fuse for the ECU. It is the 2nd fuse in from the right in the fusebox. It’s either 3 or 5 amp.

  3. Thanks for the reply chrisw, but i had already tried that.

However i have now sorted it after a lot of expletives it turned out to be the ignition key sensor that had moved.
A little play about and she works.

It seems as though the CAN 38.0 error code is a pretty generic code for almost anything on that loom.
From the ECU to the dash including connections, fuses and ignition.

Thankfully it wasn’t the dash or ecu in my case.
Hopefully this will help anyone with similar problems

  5. I’m having this issue same exact sputtering and dead neutral light. Would yours crank fuel pump work ? Mine won’t crank and I can a longer my fuel pump coming on.
