1200 Multistrada 1200

  1. Yep.... way way too much money for a 2012 plate ....
You can get a Pikes Peak for that money.

I've had / have 4 or 5 depending on how you count.
What is your budget and intended use?

  2. For a start, according to the MoT history records held by the DVLA, it went from 12,309 miles at the first MoT in July 15 to 21,114 miles in May 2017 (without having an MoT in 2016) to 16,214 miles a year later. That would need explaining before I considered buying it and I probably wouldn’t buy it, too much money. Andy

  3. If you are willing to spend this type of money , I would consider the twin spark model 2013 -2014. Also you may consider the base model without the sky hook suspension . These are usually £1000 cheaper. The base model suspension is excellent. If you are looking for luggage, it is expensive to buy, so buy a bike with the luggage included. Multi's need a belt service every five years or 15000 miles. That can cost £1000. So look for a model that doesn't need it shortly after you buy it.

  4. Thanks for the reply mate! I’m hoping to spend around 6 really but if I could spend less obviously that would be great. I’m definitely not going to be touring around Europe or going over mountains. I’m just looking for decent looking bike for getting to work on now and then and a few day trips out with the Mrs. I’m 6’4” so I’m going down the Triumph Tiger, BMW GS route for the comfy legs! The Ducati’s have just caught my eye as they beautiful machines.

what would be a realistic price for the bike in the add??

  5. That mileage really is weird! Sounds a bit dodgey to me!

  8. Hello Bob!

I tried to send you a message but I don’t know if it worked or not??

  9. I would leave the bike in the advert as the mileage is illogical v MOT, when it comes to selling it might devalue it or make a sale v difficult. You have a lead on possibly a brilliant bike of a well known forum member. Speaks volumes. If the price is right do it.

  10. Thanks Michel.. Bobs bike does looks really nice!

  11. Got the PM Tim and replied, left me number so give me a bell. :upyeah:

  12. Forgot to say welcome to the forum :)

  13. You may have already found the ideal bike now but I paid less than that for a 2013 (twinspark) S Touring with full luggage and choice Ducati extras with half the mileage that actually stacked up against the MOT history.
Good luck, I suggest you get a ride on one if you can if you have several makes/models in mind

  14. Well spotted. I've never thought of using the mot history before :upyeah:

  15. I read somewhere that there was a recall for the clocks on older Multistrada. Maybe it’s something to do with that?

  16. AS above, the clocks will have been changed. I walked away from one bike because of the very same thing. It was all legit, but I did not want the hassle further down the line. Its a pain when engine and clocks do match to work out servicing. There are lots of 'em out there, you do not need to compromise.

  17. At a minimum, you have to price the bike with 37,000+ miles on it and have the service record for when the odometer was changed.
I would walk away if the info was not crystal clear and satisfactory.

  18. I had a similar thing happen to my mileage on the MOT. The guy didn't reset the mileage to miles after disconnecting the battery and entered the KM's as mileage. I took the bike back and he had to reissue the certificate in mileage.
